MSN ask which movie you are looking forward to seeing this fall. Serenity is listed among the choices and is currently tied in 4th place with 9% of the vote. Legend of Zorro is currently in the lead with 35%. I think we can change that.

I'm actually excited about this month's releases. They all look pretty interesting which'll make September go by more quickly.
Another day, another poll. And we are yet to be defeated. It would be such a shame to lose here when we won the IMdb poll.
Come on people, we can't be beaten by Zorro!
Hah, I saw Serenity being in the lead with 41% on this very poll (several days after the poll was put up, with around 6000 votes), and Zorro having 5 or 6%. In a matter of four hours, that turned to how it looks now (and suddenly 15000 had voted).

Seems it's not only us Whedon-fans who are great at poll attacks (although, the sudden high vote for Zorro smells more of semi-hacking).

Or because it was linked on MSN's front page and Zorro is about the only film name people would recognise?

Very valid point, Simon - don't remember how I found it days before the sudden Zorro-boost, just figured it'd been on the front page back then. Had hoped it was one of the few polls that would go free of Flan-attack, and maybe it (somewhat) did =) until now =(

EDIT: "Had hoped", that is, when I first saw it and close to noone had voted - a few days later Serenity had the extreme majority of votes.

Why is polls getting the Flan-attack a bad thing, though?
Serge, good point about the likely semi-hacking regarding Zorro's vote performance in this poll. I first heard about this a few days ago via a news item at FireFlyFans.net click it here for more. It's interesting to read through the posts to chart the rise of Serenity's vote share, fans debating the ethics of logging multiple votes on a survey admittedly "not...scientifically valid", then to see the poll blindsided seemingly overnight, possibly not by actual Zorro fans but perhaps a bot.

It's nice to see the BDM support in all its form, but IMHO perhaps the Browncoats' collective efforts are better served by assisting promotions elsewhere.

Also remember that MSN tends to be extremely, toxicly, mainstream. Still, right now the BDM is one percentage point behind "Just Like Heaven", yet another dead-person-love-movie. Forget "Zorro" (which probably will be pretty good and is a known property for about 85 years or so), this insult must not stand! I mean, I like Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo as much or maybe more than the next film-geek, but c'mon.

GVH: Because I would actually prefer to see the real, unbiased outcome of at least some polls, to see how public interest develops over the weeks, rather than knowing that the only reason Serenity is ranked high is because the poll has been mentioned on Fireflyfans.net or here.

And whether Flan-attacks actually turn the poll into worthwhile promotional material is debatable.
I actually agree here - it's been very hard to track Serenity's real term impact, as every online pole gets attacked by flans. If we leave them alone for a few weeks, we'll know if TV spots and such pay off.
I've tried this 2 days in a row and it won't give me a way to vote. I smell Alliance interference.
Are any online polls really unbiased though? The absence of a flan-attack doesn't make the results any more valid, other than perhaps showing that Serenity isn't as well known as we'd like to think. Of course, I don't need a poll to tell me that.
We're at 10% now, just ahead of the Reese movie (9%).
Yep, I agree with killinj. Online polls don't really say much, they're always biased in at least some way, at the very least depending on the people that visit the site that hosts the poll. But yes, I do see the point of wanting to know how the Serenity promotion is actually going.
Third place now behind Zorro and Corpse Bride.
On the other hand, seeing some significant figures for interest in a movie might make some of the "mainstreamers" say "Hey, what's that movie all about?!" and pick up more people attending.
Second place now just behind Corpse Bride (14% vs 15%). Come on, browncoats. Surely, we can push Serenity past that final point into first place.
