UK Night&Day magazine has 3 page Serenity feature. It's not online, but it's a heft feature in the Mail on Sunday newspaper, including commentary from Whedon. There's a picture of Summer Glau on the inside cover. The article gushes over the movie like nothing before, some choice quotes follow.

"Sci-fi adventure Serenity rides through space's final frontier with such gusto, style and wit that you wish that it's director and writer Joss Whedon had been holding the reins of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

It's an epic film, which reminds us how George Lucas's most recent release could have turned out if he hadn't sacrificed plot and character for special effects.

..

'I worked really hard for months on the stunts,' says Glau. 'I was a vegetarian at the start of shooting, but by the end of this film I was eating steak.'

..

All these elements - a tight, witty script, rip-roaring action, interesting characters and a chilling villain - make Serenity a winner.
"

The full article is, indeed, a great piece of UK publicity.

I have a hunch that traditional critics are gonna be kinder to this movie than the 'net ones, just purely b/c story and acting-wise, the movie rocks. I can't wait to read more reviews -- can't believe it's only 2 more weeks till the premiere!

Though had a nasty surprise on Fri -- I had assumed that Corpse Bride was coming out this weekend, only to learn it's in limited until next week, the 23rd, which is far too close for comfort. It's the only movie I'm really worried about conflicting with Serenity, so a one week grace period is not good enough.
Both "Corpse Bride" and "Into The Blue" (the later because of the tits and arse factor) will hit Serenity a little. I'd imagine "Into The Blue" will fade very very quickly, though. In a purely selfish way, hopefully "Corpse Bride" fades quickly.

Serenity is doing very well review wise in the UK so far, print press wise. Total Film have given it 4 out of 5, Film Review 5 out of 5, and Empire are planning many pages of quality coverage next month. That's pretty much the film magazine market here owned completely. SFX gave it a rave review. Newspaper wise, Daily Mail gave it 4 out of 5, The Telegraph gave it a top review, The Scotsman gave it 5 out of 5 and Mail on Sunday cover above.

In nothing else, UIP UK will be spoilt for choice for poster and trailer quotes.

You have to bear in mind most critics go into a sci-fi action drama like this thinking it'll be shit, like.. erm.. Stealth or something. Then they kinda go "Oh, er, this is actually good".
gossi, when did the Daily Mail review Serenity? Is it yet to be published, or will it be mentioned in the future? I have been looking out for it in that paper so I hope I haven't missed it. Logically, it should be in a couple of weeks, just before the release, I think.

I got Night&Day today, and it is a nice feature. Nothing too indepth, but a general summary of the plot, praise for the film, and a couple of quotes from the actors. The Summer one about the steak was nice, but there is also one from Nathan saying he just copied Harrison Ford exactly. o_O

I'm thinking that he said it jokingly and the article doesn't mention it, because personally I think the characters of Han Solo and Mal are very different, and whilst there are some similarities between the way the two actors play them, Mal is much more believable and interesting.
Nathan did say it jokingly, Razor - I was there filming it, as it happens for a documentary thing I'll one day actually edit together.

I made a mistake above - it was actually the Daily Mirror, not Mail. The review hasn't been published yet - it's embargo'ed to September 28th (as most of them are), but they have provided UIP with their review for poster quotage early.
Gossi, that's out tagline right there! "Serenity. It's better than Stealth!" Mind you, I assume the script for Stealth, if there was one, took less time to write than the running time of the movie.

And reviews that don't go into great depth but just say "It's great" are the ones I like, going in unspoiled is the best way.
I think My Little Pony was better than Stealth. I really don't know how that film even got made.
Thanks for the information, gossi. I was glad Nathan wasn't dissing his own performance because he is an amazing actor. ;)
Damn it! I have to get The Sun don't I...
I really hate the Mail, both on Sunday and Daily, but my parents happen to read it and thankfully they picked today to visit me for the 1st time in months so I made sure they brought it with them and now I have a copy :)
Someone transcribed the whole article on the Serenity movie site:

Linky
"I was a vegetarian at the start of shooting, but by the end of this film I was eating steak."

LOL, that's awesome. Summer's funny.
So I guess there're no vegetarian (or at least, no vegan) stuntmen or -women?
Night&Day magazine claims to have 2.4 million readers, for anybody interested.
