(SPOILER) MSNBC Feature on Serenity. Very positive feature despite the initial "failed TV series" angle with a nice simple introduction to the 'verse for newbies.

There is a brief plot summary that may contain a spoiler for the extremely spoiler-phobic, so here is a sample quote: "Overall, “Serenity” is packed with gunfights, chases, sci-fi gadgets, bar brawls and dark moments of terror. As with the TV show, the film also is loaded with sharp dialogue, eccentric wit and loving sarcasm among shipmates."

Well this is the sign of mainstream coverage for me. My favourite US newsite. Good stuff.
This is actually an AP article, so it's likely to pop up a lot of different places, which is pretty awesome because this is, as mentioned, very positive. (I was actually about to post Yahoo's version of it. Good thing I checked the front page again.)

Edit to add: I forgot, I was going to mention that while looking on Google to see if the AP article had popped up anywhere else, I saw a short but also very positive review in the Village Voice too. Too short for its own post probably, but some shiny quotes (and a bit of plot spoilage, so be warned).
Edit again: Naturally, while I was editing this someone posts the review. Durr.

Very good stuff indeed. Not a review, per se, but a positive look at the story of how Serenity came to be, with some choice, quoteworthy praise. I like the Serenity-as-underdog approach being taken in much of the coverage. As long as the emphasis is on the resilience of the Fireflyverse, the fans, the approval and support of Universal, etc., it makes for some stirring stuff. Who doesn't love an underdog?
Would it be unethical to give the article 5 stars on MSN to boost exposure?
Unethical? Did you dig the article? Then, no :)
Clicked on the 5 Stars, thanks for the suggestion Tungsten.
You know, at first I didn't like the "failed tv show" spin everyone seems to headline. But, this article made it seem like even if I had never seen it, I'd want to find out about it. Hope others feel the same; IMHO this was a very good article.
