Herc From Aintitcool Reviews Tonight's "Smallville".
The episode features James Marsters' debut in the series, and earns 3/5 stars.
This Smallville link is going to be like a blemish on an otherwise Serenity filled page.
Actually quite looking forward to the show, whilst I realise the program has serious flaws it's usually entertaining overall, I've stuck with it this long so I may as well watch what will probably be the final season.

...the big debut was a 15 second glimpse of him congealing out of X-Files-ish "black oil" leaking out of a recovered spacecraft.

Still, how is my viewership rewarded? With just a snippet of a "killer snot monster from outer space" morphing into the reason I watched the damn thing in the first place. An hour of my time as payment for 30 seconds of euphoria.
And yet, I knew that was exactly what would happen. Said as much to the family as I was prodding them out the door.
Worth it? Well, yeah. Anything to see that man on my tv screen again.
Will keep watching and waiting in anticipation of that high. Much like a crack addict. I keep half expecting an intervention, but I don't think there's a rehab facility for this sorta thing.

Yes, and the WB ratings were good, so YAY!! (I was worried about that time slot)

"SMALLVILLE" WINS ITS TIME PERIOD, PLACING #1 AMONG MEN 18-34 AND MEN 12-34
"SMALLVILLE" SCORES ALL-TIME TIME THURSDAY RECORD FOR THE WB AMONG MEN 18-34, MEN 18-49 AND MEN 12-34 AND SETS A NEW NETWORK TIME PERIOD RECORD IN ADULTS 18-34, ADULTS 18-49. PERSONS 12-34 AND TOTAL VIEWERS (5.9 MILLION)"
They capped it all on James' Site, not I! Didn't know if this ranked it's own thread, since James was only there for a few seconds, so I'm adding it here. It will be interesting to see the ratings when James really is on the eps. I watched the entire episode, something I have not done since Angel used to be on after Smallville. In my opinion, it has GREATLY improved. It was much more interesting than it used to be. If they can just get rid of the Clack/Lana mooning over each other stuff, I think it would be a pretty decent show.
The intro of James' character didn't bother me, reminded me more of X-Files than anything. More likely, it was just simply a nod to Angel.
I think the fact that James' never knocked The WB is paying off - at least that I'm aware. Looks like he's got himself a sweet recurring guest spot on a popular show with some renewed life. I hope the ratings hold.
