[Australia] Serenity opening day box office statistics. Serenity has done exceptionally well, ranked 5th, placing it above Cinderella Man and Transporter 2. The top four movies were family movies aimed at the kiddies who are all on school holidays at the moment.

Well that was pretty cool of UIP Australia to let people know what was happening.
Most importantly "Serenity" had the highest screen-average of the day.
I'd just like to repeat, although this post is termed 'exceptionally well', the subtext here is: get people into cinemas tonight and tomorrow, Oz people
Oh yes, we shall. Us Aussie Browncoats aren't ready to lay down arms just yet ;)
Aye... I don't think all the kids are on school holidays at the moment, just a few areas?

Either way, the highest screen average of the day thing is GREAT, but otherwise it seriously needs to up momentum tonight, tomorrow and sunday in Oz, or it'll be trouble.
Well, I intend on going a few more times at least and dragging anyone with me, by force if necessary ;)

Yeah, I think only certain states are on school holidays - NSW/ACT, but it certainly FEELS like they're all on holidays.

When I went to see Serenity yesterday, some gorram kids were in there chatting and stuff throughout - they'd only gone to it because they got booted from Deuce Bigalow 2 due to their age (shows the taste they have in movies, though). Thankfully, they left half-way through, but arrgh...Book was right: people who talk at the theatre should go to the special hell.
We have a huge day planned for tomorrow in Sydneys Hyde Park. About 30-40 of us Oz Browncoats are having a big picnic, handing out leaflets then all heading off to see the BDM together. Hopefuly, we'll be recruiting quite a few newbies to the movie then.
Us Ozzie Browncoats do love our shindigs!
I am doing my part
With a post on my blog
hehe

I saw Serenity in Melbourne tonight (Friday) for the forth time, this time with a largely non-browncoat audience and I think the vibe was generally positive. Having a couple of browncoats in the audience did help with the general vibe though.

You can tell who the browncoats are in the audience, they're the ones that laugh when Jayne says "I don't want to explode” and by the end of the movie the whole audience was laughing at Kaylee saying "I want to live".

I'll be very surprised if Serenity doesn't do rather well over the next week. I think I will see it a couple of times over the weekend and then I will be seeing it with a group of four people on Tuesday night.

I have to say that just like the series, the movie is so very very easy to watch and is as good if not better each time you see it and my god, there is so much going on in this movie, I'm still picking up things I didn't notice on previous screenings.
