International Box Office roundup. Variety has a roundup of the international Box Office. Apparently Serenity has good word of mouth, which should give it legs in the UK. Variety also reports that USA bought Serenity for about $3 million. The SciFi channel will also get some plays.

I know it was already reported, but I hadn't seen those specifics.

"With "Wallace" looming in Blighty, UIP sci-fi title "Serenity" took top spot at the box office, riding high on surprisingly strong reviews. Cult title is playing well during the week -- boasting $181,000 on Monday, and $195,000 on Tuesday -- which points to good word of mouth."

This is happy gossi.
Thanks Gossi, the link leads me to naught.

Yeah UK'ers!
The Sydney Morning Herald ranked it 3rd in the top ten movies of 2005 today! Not bad considering it, hit it's peak at 6 and has been steady at 9 since. But we love it!!!
And various critics keep trying to do their bit. The Oregonian's Shawn Levy still had Serenity on his "top 5" list of movies to see in Friday's paper.

Which I don't mentiont os uggest I think some weird turnaround will happen -- just as continued bits of evidence that at least those people who see the movie "get it."
Go UK! - this makes it all the more weird to me that UIP doesn't seem to have any confidence in the international boxoffice in places other than the UK and Australia, but okay.
The Hollywood Repoter has this today on int box office:

"Serenity" grossed an estimated $1.7 million from 750 locations from five territories for a cume of $6 million"

Btw, I just wanted to mention that Box Office Mojo seems to be missing certain countries from their list of int box office results, for example I couldn't see Republic of Ireland on the list, where Serenity is already playing and has opened no 2 at the box office, or another example Sweden, where Serenity will be playing.

I am just saying methinks we need to take their int BO figures with a pinch of salt.

(If I am wrong on this, please correct me.)

Serenity takes 6th place 2nd weekend in the UK. Not as good as I was hoping for personally, but still, it's the lowest 2nd week drop so far. It's also a drop rate which suggests this is very much a 'main stream' film in the UK, not a cult film.
