(SPOILER) The Firefly 'Verse: Three Beginnings. "Joss Whedon's sci-fi western franchise may be unique in the world of television and film in that the storyline has not one, not two, but three disparate beginnings."

Actually, it may be rare, but Firefly isn't the first series to have up to 3 beginnings. There are a few Japanese series that have three beginnings; one in manga (comic) form, another in anime (cartoon) form and a third in OAV (direct-to-video) or movie form. Magic Knight Rayearth and Revolutionary Girl Utena both have at least three beginnings in that sense.

Technically, Firefly has 4 beginings...if you include the Serenity comic book mini-series. It's true that the comic book doesn't really go into very much depth with character introduction, but it was supposedly written to bring in new fans, as well as current ones.

Either way you count it, though, Joss must be running out of creative ways to introduce his 'verse and crew to the public. Let's hope that his must recent incarnation will be his last and we can all enjoy a nice series of movies.
5 if you include the upcoming interpretive dance version...
There was also this little series called Star Trek that some of you may have heard of...
zz9, I'm actually thinking of choreographing a piece to the beautiful score, so you're totally correct!
