Russian Vampires watch "Buffy vs Dracula". Russian Vampire film, "Nightwatch," features a clip from the fifth season premiere - Buffy Summers coming face-to-face with The Dark Master... bator.

While much of this Russian-language film seems influenced by "Blade" and the Jeunet/Caro films "Delicatessen" and "The City of Lost Children", this small nod to Buffy suggests the characters' emotional pain and suffering was inspired by our favourite Vampire Slayer.

I can't tell you what a surprise it was to see - the scene was dubbed in Russian and then subtitled in English. (And the film itself does some very creative things with subtitles - they are part of the film's visual effects.)

"Nightwatch" is the first of a trilogy. Fox Searchlight are responsible for its eventual U.S. release.

Thanks for a tip! Haven't seen Nightwatch but after reading about Buffy clip I'm going to see it.
I was intrigued by the sound of the film, the inventive subtitles and effects, and this little mention also makes me want to see it.
I think Nightwatch looks horrid, but the fact that Buffy is there is interesting.
I suspect Nightwatch is going to be one of those films that's either very good, or really bad. ;)

It looks pretty cool, though.
It looks pretty cool, though.

The story is a little convoluted and it starts off being very enamoured in its own visual style but eventually it makes that work for it. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination.
I saw Nightwatch the other day without knowing of the Buffy clip.

It was so weird to see Buffy dubbed into Russian and then translated with subtitles back into English. Hilarious!

The movie itself - I found it confusing because I was exhausted (was sick at the time) and forgot to read the subtitles a lot of the time...

Visually it was great though.
