I wish Illyria had been on the list.

To be honest, I'm sure they could make a great Spike/Illyria post-"Not Fade Away" TV movie - but we already know so much about Spike. (In fact, of the two, I'd rather learn more about Illyria.) Whereas Ripper was always so mysterious...
Angel had five years of his own show. And parts of "Buffy", too.

He was always a secondary character with only a handfull of episodes about him. Buffy was mainly about Buffy and the scoobies. Angel about Angel and his fanggang. Spike really doesn't belong with either of them. I chose for Faith on the poll, since Giles and Xander don't interest me.

In fact, if the Faith television series had gone ahead and Wes had become a regular on the show i think there was the potential there for a little sexual chemistry. I wonder if we would have seen the first slayer/watcher couple? Just a thought!

I have a lot of very rich Republican friends and you all know how they can work the Capital, they have agreed on handing me some money so I can lobby against any other characters getting their oen spinn-off project.

I voted for her, however I wouldn't say no to any of them on the list
And where was Illyria! I thought Joss even said that he wanted to bring the character back as well as Spike and Willow

If we are fantasizing, I would like a big screen movie with Angel/Buffy/Spike--a Butch/Sundance/Etta kind of thing..
Who would get the girl? Well, look at my name, people.
Although in Butch/Sundance, they ended up with each other. ;)

Sethsky, I think I've already resigned myself to the fact that the first new TV or DVD movie will be a Spike story - as have the editors of Sci Fi Wire :-)
In essence, Spike has already had two stories and two endings! Some of the great episodes (of both series) were flashbacks to his backstory. It's hard to accept calling him a secondary character when, in fact, he got more screen time in Season 7 Buffy than Xander and in Season 5 Angel than most of the other main cast!
If/when this Spike movie appears, I'll watch it. I'll probably buy it, too. I just happen to think that Giles' history as Ripper has been overlooked for too long and that the Illyria story was cut short due to Angel's cancellation.

With Giles (Ripper starring in "Tales of the Watchers") and Illyria.
Angel TheVampire | November 01, 02:23 CET
I would also like to see Wes with Faith and Illyria.
What about first the Spike movie with Illyria, who resurrects Wes (because she can't take the insane-making pain without him) and Wes then shows up in Faith's movie. Strange re-births and sexual tension all-around! I'd like to see Andrew as well.
Seriously, is there a plausible storyline where Wes could be "brought back" in a non-zombie like way? Because that death had so much dramatic resonance, a resurrection might seem cheap. But I want him in the movie(s), please.

I'll take whatever I can get. But damn, why can't we just have them all?

Didn't Andrew have more screen time in season 7 than Xander?
newcj | November 01, 08:20 CET
I guess I’ll just have to go with Giles then. Set it in England where he has gone back to being curator of the British Museum of History. He has had enough of the Watcher life and just wants to settle in and start a normal life. That ain’t too much to ask for is it? You bet it is!
Faith and Wesley would have kicked serious derriere but that guy left with one of the best death scenes ever and bringing him back would take all meaning away from it. Don’t you dare do that Joss. Don’t. You. Dare.

Yeah, flashbacks, but fans of Spike want to see where his story leads to, as for screen time. It was only normal since they could do so much with him in Season 7 of Buffy(he had a soul, the relationship between him and Buffy). Just like on Angel season 5, the long standing hatred between Spike and Angel. Two vampires with a soul. There were also alot of Spike fans who started watching Angel. He has always been a secondary character no matter how much screen time he got.
Let's just agree to disagree.
I was sorry that Lindsey wasn't on the poll, since i wanted to know his backstory(before he came back in Season5)

Yep, same here.
Yep, I agree again. To me, at this point, Spike is not one of the most interesting characters anymore. I love James Masters' work and thought he was one of the very best actors on both of the Buffyverse shows, but even though his role in Angel S5 was great I just couldn't get rid of the feeling that a) he was there for the ratings, to drag along Spike fans to Angel, that b) Spike got screentime that otherwise would've been devoted to characters who had already been in the fang gang for four previous seasons and kinda 'deserved' it more and c) that it somewhat cheapened his demise in Buffy and his whole arc there. Still, he had great chemistry in most of the scenes he was in, so I didn't hate the fact that Spike was there. It just wouldn't have been the creative decission I would've made.
But then again, I've accepted that Spike has probably been the most loved character in the fandom for quite some time. Me, I loved him in season two, and in Lover's Walk, and then in season 4 it got to be a situation of 'there is no longer any reason left why Buffy would not stake this guy right now' which continued untill he got a soul. Then when he finally hád a soul his arc could continue (I don't agree with the people who think that spike getting a soul was a result of his quest for redemption in the previous seasons. I feel that's a weird idea, honestly), and his arc closed of nicely with his sacrifice in season seven where he got himself a taste of true redemption, and I think that that could've been it. There was no real reason to bring him back then (or now) apart from his immense popularity.
Yep, I agree. I was just starting to warm to Illyria when the show ended (couldn't do it before, because - well - she sorta did 'kill' Fred, who was my favorite Angel character - possibly because she was an incredibly cute scientist) and would've loved to see more happen there. There was a very intersting dynamic in the character. She could've gone places.
And Giles as well. There's some very interesting stuff that could still be told there. I hope some of these other characters get their chance to shine as well, even though I'll also watch, buy and probably love, a Spike movie.
GVH | November 01, 10:52 CET
But those who don't worship at the alter of Spike would like to see other characters fleshed out who (I feel) 'deserve' it more, like Faith, Giles, and Illyria. Less so for Xander and Willow, as they've been around for so long. Willow has had a fairly central role already and though Xander was often criminally relegated to background comedy, the writers (I think) said they ran out of ideas for him.
Giles has Ripper backstory. Illyria has her past and having to fit into a new world where she is no longer a god-king. Faith has redemption, anger management, slayer stuff! And Andrew has watcher glory to aim for.
I love Spike, but I feel he's been central to so many recent storylines it would be nice for someone else to get the spotlight. I'll take what I can get of the verse and I know I'll love it, though.
lone fashionable wolf | November 01, 14:45 CET
If I had lots of time on my hands (yeah, right) I would time how much screen time the different characters had in each season. I think many people would be surprised at how it little Spike actually had. It did not take a lot of screen time for that character made an impression.
Oh, and of course I want more Illyria and Giles and Faith and the rest. Slayerverse movies all around as far as I'm concerned.

I would like to see more Giles, and of course Illyria, maybe even Andrew, but to be honest, Faith was never my favorite, and the same for Willow...just never really cared about them much. Anya I loved and was heartbroken for. Xander I liked, but got irritated with for his treatment of Spike and then of course leaving Anya at the alter...that was just stupid. I will be happy though, to see any of them in a Spike movie, as long as there is a change of heart, acceptance and appreciation of Spike. And more than anything I want him to be the focus, no one else. If movies about the other characters get made too...great ...best of all worlds and something for everyone I hope.....
