Joss Whedon's letter to Angel fans.
Find out what was written in the letter included with the Angel: Complete Series DVD Boxset. One goody is discovering a few of the Angel moments that made Joss' life worth living.
Those with long memories will remember the thread at Whedonesque about the letter Joss wrote for the Buffy: Complete Series DVD boxset.
Pics of the Angel boxset can be found here.
Thanks to Alan for the heads up.

Off the edge of the world and home for supper? Deep Down, anyone?
In Destiny, of course.
Caveman vs. Astronauts!
Man, I so want this DVD set!

Anyway, great letter as always when it's written by Joss. Seriously, I'm pretty sure that I could read a shopping list and be totally captivated with what it says if it was written by that man (no, I'm not planning to raid his refrigerator). "Genius wordsmith" doesn't really cover it.

And boy, that last paragraph made me a little teary.

--Buffy swearing never to forget her time with Angel, right before she does.
--The biggest, bloodiest and most personal Spike/Angel fight we've ever shot.
Word. Just...word.
Two of the best moments in the 'verse.

At least for the length of the show.
So, besides this wonderful letter, is there any reason why I should buy this box set when I have 4 of the 5 seasons already?
Lioness | November 02, 02:24 CET
At least for the length of the show.
Did you see the seasons out of order? Because IWRY was well before Spuffy became something. Or do you mean, the length of that episode? I was a total Bangel too, but when Spuffy came along I felt that was right for Buffy then. I don't really see it as either or, but more like phases of Buffy's life, and each being right at the time.

Ditto. Just... ditto.
*forlorne sigh*
Can't wait 'til they put all this in a nice ugly box for us Region 1-ers!

This is an amazing letter. Along with the last scene in the finale, my favorite is Faith standing in the rain, begging Angel to kill her. I think that was Eliza Dushku at her very best.
Cygnet | November 02, 06:32 CET
1. Faith asking for Angel to kill her in the rainy alley.
2. I know, not a serious moment, but I loved Angel and Wesley crazy dancing in "She"
3. Angel locking Darla and Dru in a room full of lawyers.
4. Angel and Holland Manner's little elevator conversation.
5. Darla staking herself to give birth to Conner.
6. Holtz running into Quortoth with Angel's baby, leaving him broken on the floor.
7. Wesley running off with the baby, and getting his throat slit for his troubles.
8. Angel in front of the mirror, unable to see his reflection while he changes from vamp face to human face, and Cordelia mistaking the noise for self-pleasuring.
9. Everyone against The Beast in Apocalypse Nowish.
10. Faith busting out of jail with Wes.
11. Conner, forced to choose between Cordelia and Darla, eventually allows Cordy to murder an innocent girl in a disturbing and beautifully shot sequence.
12. the final moment of "Home"
13. Wes shooting his "dad" at the end of Lineage
14. Angel Vs. Spike in Destiny.
15. "Why can't I stay"
16. Illyria butchering the entire time in "Time Bomb"
17. Gunn allowing himself to be taken in "Underneath"
18. Power Play, Doyle's theme playing as they all choose to perhaps die for the greater good.
19. the final moment of not fade away.
20. Doyle's death in season 1
That was a long list, but there you go.
rabid | November 02, 06:45 CET
Rabid, you forgot Cordelia and Angel jumping up in down in joy after Angel buys her all the clothes to get her to like him again. So funny!
Harmalicious | November 02, 07:29 CET
.. can't wait!
[wcip]Angel | November 03, 15:52 CET
At least for the length of the show.
I tried to watch BTVS early on, but it didnt do it for me till I saw the season five episodes and then..(I'm still here aren't I) I will say that IWRY is touching, but THE PROM made me a "Bangel" for just about a minute..
Anyway, about the letter. Joss should be a writer, you know? That was beautiful!! ITA with his sentiment.
