No new Serenity action figures planned say Diamond Select Toys. Thus disappointing those who wanted to get the entire crew.

Ta to Will for the heads up.

But, on the bright side, Diamond have just aquired the rights to produce Stargate figures!

Okay, only a bright side for those of us who love Stargate, but still! :)
I wanted a River & Zoe & Inara - heck I wanted everyone :(

And a scale model of Serenity too (if we can have a library, then why not?)
This is SO not fair.

Not cool....not cool.
I do think if the Mal and Jayne that were released had been really good, this would be disappointing news. However, personally I thought they were pretty unremarkable and not great likenesses, so I'm not really upset at missing out on the opportunity to buy them.

It's just a shame that they didn't make really good ones, because then way more people would have bought them, and then we maybe could get the whole crew. Does anyone have any links to the Reaver action figure picture? I avoided if before seeing the movie to avoid spoilers.
How disappointing. I pick up all of the first set, and was looking forward to getting the rest of the crew, and Serenity in particular.

At the very least, they should release a River and a Serenity.

Have to agree. The Reaver looked cool, Jayne actually looked half decent up close, but both Mal figures were frikkin' travesties. Looked about as much like Michael Jackson as they did like Nathan. One of the worst likenesses I've ever seen.

Say is Sideshow planning on any Serenity stuff? I realize the chance for this is getting smaller to nil everywhere now that the movie hasn't really caught on in the mainstream, but Sideshow has more figures that are mostly known to genre fans anyway.
I agree with you guys too (shock). The figures were horrible. I refuse to buy low-quality stuff just because it has "Buffy" or "Firefly/Serenity" slapped on it, even if it's "approved" or whatever.

More generally *beginning pet peeve rant*, I want to support quality, not schlock. Same goes for spin-off shows, comic books, novels, tea cozies . . . If more 'verse means tarnishing the beauty of the originals, I don't want it.
The models didn't look like the characters, suppose it's good that they didn't 'cos otherwise people would be more upset about not getting to complete the collection. I was dissapointed when the models were first announced, in a way I was hoping for the usual range of toys that sci-fi films get: loads of different ships; ships that open into a playset; Super-under-water-battle-Mal and other stuff like that that wasn't in the movie but doesn't stop them making a toy of it.

Would have been nice to have a model of Serenity herself though, could have sat it on my shelf next to my Bender and Dalek.
Here, here. The Diamond 'Serenity' figures were abominations. Some of THE worst figures that I've seen in ages. They reminded me of the crap that Toy Biz used to (sometimes still do) churn out. Why on earth a better company like Mezco, SOTA, or NECA wasn't able to get the license is beyond me. Yeah, so thanks for a big pile o' nothing Diamond!

Seconded. That's why I always get annoyed when people assume you like something simply because it's connected to some property or creator. When my wife tried to recommend Serenity to some coworkers, someone said "It's from the guy that did that Buffy show. THAT's why she likes it." Personally I find that more than a little offensive. We don't like things 'because it's Joss'. What are we, mindless drones in some brainwashed cult?? We like things that are GOOD, and Joss' stuff usually is. Taste is a factor sure, but that doesn't mean we automatically like everything he does.

It took me a while to get her to even try and watch Firefly even though she was a Buffy fan, because she wasn't convinced space shows were her thing, Joss Whedon or no, but she watched it, and thought it was good. But way too many people seem to think anything with a certain name or logo will appeal to the same people. And maybe for some people it's true, but I think less than is generally assumed.
I'm on the a-couple-were-okay boat. I really just wanted the whole crew. Crap. (Yes, Mal's was pretty terrible.)
This bites! I wanted a mock of the ship. As for the figures, never very interested. They were poorly maded.
I totally agree with SNT. I'm all for supporting my favourite shows and movies, and that includes buying related merchandise, but that's only if I like it, and even more importantly, that it is good quality. Which is why I won't be buying the Mal or Jayne figures, and why I did buy the Serenity Visual Companion. The Reaver one is much better, though for some reason it seems to be easier to make figures of elaborate demons and monsters as opposed to humans.

Also agree with GhostSpike, I'd love to have a model of the Serenity ship. I think it'd be fantastic if they made Firefly/Serenity busts or statuettes or something, as opposed to action figures, if this is how they're gonna look.

I really hate when films become so over-merchandised. Things like Harry Potter and Star Wars can really take it too far. I thought Lord of the Rings was better, they had quite a wide range of products but I didn't think there were too many ridiculous ones, however I'm sure someone might correct me on that, and I think that would be more suitable for Serenity, and also to reflect the more adult nature of the film.

And of course we must remember, to Joss's eternal horror, that he was indirectly responsible for the creation of the Spike thong.
