Joss to never learn how to work site! Man is complete Melvin! Mock him!

It's true! I want to post, but I suspect my post will appear as the actual link to my post. And this after having my own password e-mailed to me 17 times. But just so you know, I happen to be a swell cook. And when the internet has a 'smell' function, you'll be able to tell that I... oh God. That's a horrible thought. 'Smell' function? From every computer? I think I just destroyed society as a concept. Anythough, I'm counting on some administrative muckity to turn whatever this comes out as into a real post. From me to you, sweet thang. (That only applies to those of you that are sweet and thangy.) (But the others can read it too.)

So what's up? Not sleep, sleep's not up... But I've been wanting to check in and let you know what's going on with me, Joss Whedon. In fact, there's even a tiny scoop or two in here!

Well, first of all, what a blast I've had with the release of Serenity! $267 million at the box office -- in Des Moines alone! Ten sequels lined up, March declared "National Serenity Awesomeness Month", Nathan made President for Life of Canada AND Greece (his will be a bloody and righteous rule), and Summer's feet to be exhibited at the Tate, when she has time to stand around at the Tate. (She should bring a book.)

So, okay, maybe SOME of my expectations were a hair unrealistic, but I'm so proud of the movie and all my peeps, and we'll drag it into the black (or take it out to the black) soon enough. That's DESPITE the Scrooge-like apathy of people like Mike Alward -- only one theater? Spread the wealth, pal! On the closest I ever get to a serious note, somebody should link his name to the Serenity site, 'cause they've been up in trying to find ways to bring people in and I think Mike really went to the mattresses there -- to be rewarded with a fair amount of snark here.

I know there's been some debate about the DVD art. Just remember it's what's INside that counts, as I used to remind girls in high school constantly. CONSTANTLY - until I realized that I was empty inside. Empty and homely. Man, that's a rough combo. Where was I? O yea, the DVD. I will admit there were a few better quotes they could have used to sell the film, among them:

"A brilliant film with heart, humor, and outstanding action. It should sweep the Oscars." -- Ron Notmadeupperson

"I've never seen a better film. In fact, I've never seen any film." -- President Abraham Lincoln

"I want to take this film and cover it in oil and rub it all over my body" -- Name Withheld (but it was Tim)

"This film has... events..." -- David Denby

"And this isn't my nose, it's a false one!" - A Witch

And now on to the rumors and allegations section. Many of you want to know what the future holds. Anxiety, hurricanes, and Male Pattern Baldness. But maybe also some art-stuff, which is really what you guys are into. No, I don't know anything about sequels, or spinoffs, or Nathan's President for Life gig. I'll keep my ear to the ground of course, but for now I'm just going to rest on my laurels (I have two). Oh! Oh! But I will tell you that Brett and I are talking about another three part comic, and it's gonna be a hoot. Takes place during the show, and has some sweet character deaths -- I mean moments! ("And what brings you to our ship, FutureTara..?") Sorry. Horrible taste. (Empty inside!) But wait'll you see the cover...

Speaking of Darkhorse Comics, they are starting a new Buffy comic, and as I understand it, it will take place after the end of Buffy and Angel and be canon in the Buffy world. And I understand it that way 'cause I'M WRITING IT. I'm kicking off the book with a four issue arc that finds Buffy -- you guessed it -- living in Italy with The Immortal. (Scott -- don't be mad I spoiled the announcement -- saying it means I have to finish it.) Then I'll be overseeing the book more closely, to make sure it remains true. Gonna be interesting. And it just might tie in to...

The infamous Spike movie. Still haven't finalized anything, but I feel that very soon I'll be able to go to James and say something a lot more interesting than "Wouldn't it be cool if..." 'Course, I just hope he's free some time this decade. See how my peeps is all actifying! Tomorrow night is AMIAS, (that's alias with Acker in it.) Happy. And totally jealous.

See, the Buffyverse glows in my brain with a new, overreaching arc that will include the comics, Spike, and more. It's taking shape and soon you will know its name. And you will tremble.

Then of course there's a little thing called X-Men, who are apparantly supposed to become astonishing again real soon. I miss me my Cassiday. Can't wait to see the fan response when I kill Wolverine and replace him with fan-fave Marrow.

Well, I certainly can't say much more, except that Wonder Woman is finally kicking ass that is not my ass, as in, I'm loving this script. She's saving the world in a tiara, people; this is why there's a me!

Oh, and there's nothing on TV tonight. TV has been cancelled. Talk amongst yourselves. La la la la la....

Thanks for keeping the faith, bringing the news (I really do learn stuff here) and carrying the banner (That's for us Newsies fans.) (Yes, I just typed that.) It's been a bewildering few months, but the important thing is, the work continues. There's a lot I'm looking forward to. 'Cause remember:

There was a show. Not that many people saw it in broad terms, but it was beloved. Full of humor, love and pain. And though it was a hard-sell emsemble piece with no huge names it in, it got made into a (roughly) 40 million dollar pic -- and with the cast intact. That doesn't happen a lot, but it should, and it did with this film. That's right. I just cannot wait to see RENT.

Stay crunchy, even in milk...

The Buffyverse glows in my brain with a new, overreaching arc that will include the comics, Spike, and more.

See, it's the "more" tacked onto the end there that makes the joy centers of my brain fall victim to some sort of strange convulsion.

Joss Whedon's doing a "Buffy" comic. Stephen King's doing a "Gunslinger" comic. The funny books are where it's at now, yo.
Wanting the Spike movie more than I can say.
This post was the first information I took into my brain five minutes after waking up. Every day should start with Joss saying he's empty inside. And the Buffy stuff.
edited to fix The Man(tm)'s Description vs. Extended Description (More) field issue :) Who loves ya, Joss? Was going to delete this one as the duplicate that it was, but everyone decided to post on the dup rather than the original. They just keep encouraging you, don't they? *snarky comment about self-linking here* Oh, right, you can't avoid being self-referential. Got it.
What a great way to start the day....thanks Joss. And I can't wait to see Rent, as well.
Joss--Bring on your Buff....y. Awesome news.

And I'd just like to say, I back you fully on the Newsies-love. One of my fond memories of childhood, my first exposure to a musical, and I even had the promotional fake-newspaper that tied in with it. And the soundtrack of course. On glorious casette.

Oh, and always Seize the Day. ;-)

Great post, got me all excited about the future. From now on, I will refer to Alias as Amias. And the "no TV tonight..." don't be embarassed about your role on Veronica Mars tonight Joss, they wrote nice things about your appearace on TV Guide online.
You're writing a new Buffy comic? Well . . . that is some good news. And while I'll have to reread a few times to process all the nuggets you strewed strewn placed before us (it is early here in Cali), we do thank you for posting JW.

O.K. New 3-part Serenity comic. Check. Spike movie. Check. AXM. Check. Wonder Woman. Check. Guess the Whedonesque gig is good for a while longer then. ;)

P.S. Love the tags too! Very functional.
Very funny. I wish I could write like that.
Thanks for checking in with us
Thanks for coming Joss.

Seen a good lookalike of yours. You'll have to watch tonights Veronica Mars to see him. Thought it was you at first, then saw the suit!!!

Love you really.

I'm more excited about this Spike movie than anything since Angel was cancelled.
The Man speaks! My brain is all awhirl and awash with giddy expectation. Buffy comics, Spike movie, WW, "and more." Wait, I'm having outright palpitations of joy! As for our BDM and its BO performance, Joss speaketh correctly.'Tis true, the Firefly-to-Serenity saga is something marvelous and strange, the BO take and the Serenity DVD art aside. The sweet gooey inside of Serenity is what counts, and it is wondrous indeed. Thank the sky bully it was made, and made so beautifully.

Can't wait to see you as a Car Rental Guy tonight, Joss.
Oh, my gods! So much Joss first thing in the morning - and then later this evening! How am I going to get any work done?

The comic book thing, though - I can't compete with the zealots who have enough of no life to be able to get them the moment they're released. I haven't been able to get any of the Serenity comics, or Angel comics past issue #1, or the Spike comic. Now there's going to be a canon Buffy comic series, and I'm likely to miss out. I'm also missing an "Astonishing X-Men" issue or two. How does someone with two jobs and lots of bills get access to these things?

Plan on some compilation graphic novels, please?

Hooray, does that mean that soon I'll no longer have to sit in the corner of the room, arms wrapped around my knees rocking back and forth muttering "it's not over, it's not over" again and again.

Couldn't be happier that Joss himself is writing the first 4 comics, means we'll finally get to see what actually happens, and not a possible version.

Is that "Tim" supposed to be a bit not normal, you mean it's not alright that I'm going to buy two copies of Serenity, one for that purpose exactly.

Go on, kill Wolverine, it'll be funny. But make sure to pay a visit to the nice people at the witness protection program before the issue hits newstands.

Glad to hear that Thursday night is Amias night, James on Smallville is great but Alias is just better.

And we all know he was joking about TV tonight, it's Veronica Mars night, in which Veronica makes a visit to a car dealership run by Numfar (or so I hear).
Oh merciful Joss, please deliver us into that heavenly dimension you call the infamous Spike movie. ;)
Joss, I love you.
This post was one of the finest birthday presents I could have today.
Very cool. Things just seem that much more likely when it straight from the almighty JW himself...and I'm loving the comic idea...
Joss, I love you.
This post was one of the finest birthday presents I could have today.

Joss, do this for me, too! You should have more to say by Friday, no? Even if you don't, I'll still love you - even if I end up passing you over for a tall, dark and handsome man.
Takes place during the show, and has some sweet character deaths -- I mean moments! ("And what brings you to our ship, FutureTara..?")

It's too early to be laughing. Stop that.
P.S. Happy Birthday annosuperstar
Is it wrong for a man to love another man? Thank you so much for the update kind sir!

Have you seen these?

Serenity graphic novel
Astonishing X-MenBook 1 (#1-6), Book 2 (#7-12)
Angel: The Curse Graphic Novel

Hope that helps
Joss loves Newsies too? Lol! Oh, and I can't wait to see Joss on Veronica Mars tonight!
Thanks, Ghost Spike! Now I can catch up with the rest of the 'verse.
A Buffy Comic written by Joss?

I love my captain. :)
"And this isn't my nose, it's a false one!" - A Witch

Aside from all the great news (thank you for posting, Joss, great to hear from vous), this has to be the funniest thing I've read all month. Could it BE any more out of context?

A new BUFFY comic? CANON, no less? Ah Joss. You've just made my month. (And completely ruined every fanfic writer's speculative BtVS Season 8s, but that's not your problem.)

The Spike movie. Yes, please. (While James is still relatively wrinkle-free.) Could you throw in some Illyria and maybe some Gunn as garnish on that tasty treat?
Could it BE any more out of context?

Ah, in my ideal world, Willowy, Holy Grail quotes could *never* be out of context. (Glad no one noticed the earlier misattribution - which I shall blame entirely on insufficient caffeine in my diet). :)
Anyone else have images of opening doors in Joss's head and torso and finding him hollow inside?
I'm not 100% sure on this one but I don't think that Lincoln quote is accurate.
Buffy news from Joss, Amy-Sherman Pallidino praising the show and a Newsies joke? This is exactly what The Best Day Ever looked like when I pictured it in my head! Except, admittedly, I also had talking bears. Then again, it's not like I've seen a not-talking bear, today, so...I'll just wait for confirmation on that one.

And, because it can't be quoted enough:

"The Buffyverse glows in my brain with a new, overreaching arc that will include the comics, Spike, and more."

That sentence makes me very happy. I hope the "more" includes Viewmasters.
Well, I know for sure Lincoln saw a play. I hear he had good seats, too. In a balcony, and...oh. *cringe*

Sorry, is it too soon?
Fabulous start to my hump day. And for an encore? A new Veronica Mars that's sure to please. You know I pass my VM tapes around much in the same manner I did with my Buffy tapes seven years ago. My past, present, and future colliding with one resounding thwack.
When the circulation bell starts ringing, will we hear it?

Joss is a Newsies fan! How cool is that? And I'm looking forward to Rent, but that one isn't *entirely* the original cast, unlike Serenity.

Oh right, Buffyverse stuff..yeah that's pretty cool too ;). Yay, the Buffyverse lives on in Joss' mind!

After my laptop died horribly yesterday this was just what I needed for a pick-me-up today. Thanks, Joss!
So....remember what I said about a fat chick playing WW?
Your so going with that aren't ya! ;)

We in Oz, are having some mighty fine cover art (apparently) with extra extras! No llama for us, but I digress.
So, Spike movie is a definate maybe?

And *scream* Buffy canon!!!!!
(ok it's a quarter 4 in the morning, don't expect anything good to come from me) That is neat!
Nice to hear from you Joss, and only a few more, maybe 10, hours till my special 'magic' happens in my pc and me and the girls get to see you in VM! Yay!
Happiness is a post from Joss on a random Wednesday. Thanks for the info--and, I think I may have to start reading comics now. *hides from the comic fans* Hey, I was a Buffy convert, too!

Woot. Thanks so very much!
YAY! Joss canon for Buffy!! I'm gonna squee my pants!!
Well, I know for sure Lincoln saw a play. I hear he had good seats, too. In a balcony, and...oh. *cringe*

Well, hello FutureLincoln...

(wait, they did that on the original Star Trek)
Bahahahahhaahah check out the tags!!!!
Did they really? LOL.
Awesome! So great to get the scoop from "The Man" himself.
I think I am about to be fired for uncontrolable, unseemly giggling....
I think we should direct Joss over to our own special When Whedonesquers Go Wild! thread.

Mike Alward is a kool guy! (If it's the fella that paid for that screening and was giving away the tix?)
They may get snarky Joss, but we bring a semblence of dignity back on board!

Now, I'm off to sleep.

ETA: Well I was when I wrote it!

[ edited by nixygirl on 2005-11-09 19:29 ]
I was expecting a Llama comment.
Someday we'll have a joss quote on the Llama.

Joss is a god, Llama or no.
I hope Joss will settle the Ben is Glory controversy. ;)
NO way, killinj, I totally solved that... River is made of chocolate.
Ah, he's back on the big W. All is well.
Comic books and Summer's feet. This post is a winner.

Canon Buffy comics!
Which are way better than Buffy comics shot from a cannon, and I should know. Wait... and because I haven't punished you all enough, I offer the following:

Summer's feet to be exhibited at the Tate, when she has time to stand around at the Tate. (She should bring a book.)

If she brought a Book I would have two reasons to go back to the Tate (some might say her two feet are two or ten reasons [toes], but not I.)
Yes, River may be made of Chocolate...but isn't there some connection between Ben and River??

OK that is my last. The doctors say that sleep, kinda important!

ETA: Ahhhh Zeit...ya make me laugh ya do!

That's why they hired me, nix- "Maybe you're the plucky comic relief." Name that quote, anyone :)
Trust me to miss all the fun. I will never nap during the afternoon again.
Ummm it's something from something?
Too tired, brain dead. Night.
"And this isn't my nose, it's a false one!" - A Witch
Willowy - methinks this is a ref to Month Pythons Holy Grail

Just had a major chortle fest - you guys are guaranteed to get me glared at by co-workers. Yay team!

I must be in a daze - I completely missed the Serenity comic. Gotta go order that right now.

Just checked on - not available till 1-Feb. Darn. Wanted a stocking stuffer (for me).

Ten bucks says when I wake up in the morning there'll be like 300 posts?
"Maybe you're the plucky comic relief."
That quote is from Galaxy Quest! :-)

[ edited by elise on 2005-11-09 19:26 ]
Nice catch, elise :)

ETA: Happy Birthday, annosuperstar. Sweet dreams, nix :)
Thanks! I love that movie.
Wow. I'm floored. (And flawed).
G'night, nixygirl. And thanks, Joss!
I'm still being horrified about a "Smell function" on computers.

but...YAY, Spike movie!!!

Canon comics? Okay, I don't know if I'm scared, full of dread or happy. (This come with knowing the verse well and how Joss likes to play with our emotions and break our hearts)

On Thursday, my heart belongs to Jamesville, but definitely right about the actors from the Verse. They are doing great.
Joss -- great to hear from you -- but no luv for the llama?
Hey Simon, do I get a cookie?
What a great post, and a welcome surprise (although, truly, could Joss NOT post on the day of his VM debut?) And zeitgeist edited the boss? Wow.
Thanks for the great news Mr Whedon. I'm really looking forward to the Spike movie and canon Buffy comics. Hope it's gonna happen soon.

palehorse - not for content or grammar, I assure you- just to fix the fact that the whole article displayed on the front page initially causing it to look, um, interesting :)

ETA- Well, and I added that bit where the sock puppet starts talking about how awesome the mods are at W-esque.
I can't wait to see Rent, Joss. It looks great.
zeitgeist, I trust you. I'm just in awe.
Dude. Dude! DUDE!

. . . Okay, I just had to get that out. "Duding" is marginally more manly than "Squeeing like a small girl". Awesome, thy name is Joss!

Totally looking forward to all the new amazo goodness but I'm especially psyched for the new Buffy comics! Thanks for the updates, Joss!
Great to hear from Joss. And great to hear his plans.

Thank you Joss for the past, the present, and the future. Your 'verse' means an awful lot to an awful lot of people, for various and sundry reasons. We're all looking forward to what comes next!
Thanks for posting, Joss. This whole thing with the comics and a potential DVD and all that forming a new arc for your universe is exactly everything I could have asked for a chance to see from you. You'll always be one of my favorite creative types.
God, this post gives me happies for the news of more BtVS-verse, as well as mentions of FF and Serenity, but also, Wonder Woman as well. Joss just sounds so enthused and artistically involved that I can't wait to see the film. Strange but true, as without his involvement I probably would have been dragged by force into the theater to see the film.

also, I find the man's spelling errors adorable. Oh gosh, I am gone.
The Jossman Posteth! I'm giggling so hard, my brain hurts, but y'know, in a good way. Universal totally should have had YOU write all the press releases and dvd blurbs for Serenity!

Thrilling stuff, too, beneath all the funny. Thank you, Joss! We knew you'd get out of that bathtub, eventually.
There are no words that can describe the sheer awesomeness of the continuation of the 'verse.

And to think, when I woke up today all I was all excited about VM later on tonight (of which I still remain) but now there is just so much more!

Oh life, how you surprise me so.
Joss, I love you as much as any one man can love another man without actually being gay.
Oh, re: internet smell. Reminded me of a gizmodo post that I had to go look up. Be afraid. See also.
Joss - gossi here. Somebody call you The Man in this topic. This amuses me. On a more serious note, the DVD filling is tasty. Totally agree on that. I just want people to know it's tasty from the outside. It might not happen. It probably won't. But I tried, and a few of my peeps helped me. Although I don't think anybody from Universal will ever speak to me again - I think I redefined how to burn bridges in the last week.

Also, by the way, if you wondered who asked the mispronounced Minear question in Scotland... Yeah, that was me. Mine-ear. Mine-ear. Repeat after me: MINE-EAR.
Nothing to add to everyone else's posts, just.... awesome. First time I check into W-esque in a bit, and what a day to do it.
Two biggest delights for me? that the Spike movie seems even closer and new, canon, Joss-written material coming to the buffyverse! Not via TV, but hey, I'll take what i can get.
Plus, still giggling at the nose, and the feet, and the FutureTara, and the Tim, and the.... Nice way to start a morning :-)
Oh, so now I'm just 'somebody' to you, eh, gossi? Sheesh... It amused me, too, that's why made with the typing of it ;)
Hee. I thought it was you, zeitgeist. But I wasn't sure. And I'm too lame to go check. Mock me! MOCK ME! Mock mock a mock.
And here I thought I was the only Newsie's fan...:) Can't wait to see you do the funny tonight on Veronica Mars Joss!! Btw, there was this movie I saw 6 times, I think it was called "Peace" or something about being tranquil...anyways, I laughed, I cried, then I laughed while I cried. And then I did it all over again. Six times. I would have gone more, but stupid theater had to make room for The Rock and Cameron Diaz. Anyways, if you have a moment, you may want to check it out. Best movie of my life. So if you know the guy that made that movie, give him a non-gay hug for me (not that there's anything wrong with that)...little Seinfeld humor for ya.
Peace: Better than Ice Planet. The video game sequel to Llamatron.
Ya go do some work for just a few minutes and look what happens.

Thanks for the post, Joss. You have made many hearts, including this one, light, bright and gay happy today.

(Finds herself singing a lame little song in her head.) Canonned Buffy he he he. Spike in a movie he he he. Writing Joss. Acting Joss. Lots and lots of Jossy Joss.
But but, what about Goners. I just remembered. You know, nobody knows anything about it, and it still has just over a hundred people talking about it on the website.

Hee. I actually considered shooting a faux Goners trailer this weekend. Deeply dark and serious, but with muppets. Kinda Greg The Bunny: First Blood.

"Man is complete Melvin!"

Always a joy to hear from the man HIMSELF! And as always, kudos to the honorable zeitgeist, for helping Melvin post!
Yay! Yayyay! *performs happy dance that Numfar would find awkward and ugly*

Joss posts! Joss will write Buffy comic! Joss says Spike movie probably soon happening! Ahh that's the kind of articles that should be up every day.... Fnally a Buffy comic that I can consider canon again! (Pleasepleaseplease a good artist!!??? Plase? Did I mention the please??)

Now if you'll excuse me, my wife squeed in her pants again......
That has completely brightened up my day, thanks Joss. Another Firefly graphic novel, a canon Buffy/Angel one, and a strong possibility of a Spike movie. Just don't forget an Illyria one!

I've also said before, whatever the packaging is like, I don't care because the movie itself is excellent, and I don't care if it was wrapped in cheap wallpaper, I would still buy and enjoy it.
NixyG, get to sleep, you!

But I can hardly blame you for staring awake at your 'puter because we are getting a shiny Serenity 3-parter! (comic, I know; not a sequel -- yet).

How does the comic book licensing work? I thought Dark Horse only had the rights to the main Buffy cast and IDW had the rights to the main Angel cast. If so, does that mean it won't have any Angel characters in it?
I soooo want a Spikemovie, Joss.

And I'm very interested in the comic. Usually I only buy the Spike-centric issues or the ones that have a bit of Spuffy in them, but I will make an exception in this case since Joss is writing it.
Now this is what i call good news! Really good to hear that, one way or another, there is going to be some actual canon continuation of the Buffyverse. I'll be happy with just the comics but if they were to tie into the Spike movie (not to mention the mysterious "more") then i'll be ... well ... even happier! :)

Anyway, cheers for the update, Joss! Good to know that you are as busy as normal!

Oh yeah, nearly forgot. I don't think Marvel are going to let you get away with the whole "killing Wolverine" thing. They have quite a lot invested in the guy, apparently.

What? It was a joke? Oooooooh!
Yay! Comic books and so many other shinythings to come! Thanks for the news Joss! *still laughing*
How The Man can be the God of the Geeks and NOT know how to post is beyond me...but good on' ya Joss for the spot of brightness in an otherwise dark time. It's all good news, for sure and I can't wait to see it all!
What a great way to start off a Wednesday! Here I was feeling tired and a bit down and now I feel as if I've had a shot of caffeine (and I don't even drink coffee or tea!).

Joss, your movie was magnificent. Even after numerous (14 so far) viewings, it still moves me and challenges me to see things in a different light. Canon comics from the Buffy 'verse, Wonder Woman, Spike movie "and more", my cup overfloweth with happy.
Wow. I knew Joss is a busy man but I sort of thought. "Ok. Wonder Woman will be keeping him pretty busy for awhile." But this.. this.. Richness is so overwhelming. Having a bad day at work, one of many and I get this as lunch. Wow.
Canon Buffy. Spike movie. Wow. But Joss sir, we have Prime Ministers up here. Although I guess that leaves lots of room for Nathan as President of Canada.
Ooh Samatwich, I'm catching up. 13 now.

Apocalypse, zeitgeist: aww, thanks! :)

killinj: wait.. ben is glory? >;)
Wooo! New Buffy canonness (yes, I know that's not a word)! Spike movie! New Serenity comic! Holy Grail reference! The joss has done it again! :-)
Yay! Joss will be writing Buffy, Serenity, AND Astonishing X-men comic books (I foresee many publishing date delays in our future!). It is such a delight to get a post from Joss, and I sure hope my brother manages to record 'Veronica Mars' for me tonight.
I do agree with SoddingNancyTribe: I think that the 'beefalo' tag will be invaluable in the future.
Happy Happy Joy Joy

Can't one of you lovely mods who lives in the L.A. area go over to Joss' house and brand his password into the side of his fridge or something? ;-)
I love you, Joss!!

Thank You and Good Night or Day.
Glad to hear some Buffy/Angel stuff is headed this way. Sad that no new info on Serenity. Obviously the studio isn't lining up to say hey...write us another. Man we better at least get a mini series or tv movie with Mal and company.
S'funny, chickenbird, but I (being the sole mod who lives in L.A., and thus suddenly weighed down with the responsibility of which you speak) was just talking 'bout that whole lost password ish with Joss yesterday as we sat on his terrasse sipping our half-cal low-dioxide spritzers and watched the early evening smog rise and fall across the San Gabriel peaks. Forgot to brand it on his fridge though. Maybe at his next fondue party . . .

DarenG - well, he did spill info on more Serenity comic-book capers. Whaddya want - blood? ;)
So many wondrous things. I don't know what to say other than 'I love my Joss'.

I'll be making a visit to my comic store to place me some orders tomorrow.
Hi Joss! Always glad to read you here!

Another Serenity comic? And a new Buffy comic, a canon one, written by you???
Now I can die in peace. Finally some canon work! Yeah!
Haha, always staying I feel really stupid, I had no idea Joss posted on or even looked at this site. And I'll wait forever for that Spike movie or any Buffyverse movie(s). I was practically raised on Buffy lol. Hell, I even dedicated an issue of my (underground) comic series to parodying Buffy. And 'smell function', that could work 4 some sites...others, I shudder to think. Keep up the good work.
The 'Newsies' line just made me shimmy off this mortal coil and go to one of those heavenly places. It's a fine life, indeed, when you've got a dream called Santa Fe...

This is all very exciting news, especially the word about the new Buffy comic. Can't wait!
I'm sorry... what now? Summer's feet are made of chocolate llamas named Ben? Lincoln in a spikey witch's nose being shot out of a canon?

And why do I feel like I need to go check the DVD box art for beefalo now?
"Newsies" is required viewing in two of my courses and until I made some converts, I thought I was the lone fan of that musical. (I also make an episode of "Buffy" required viewing in one of my courses.) Joss is like my pretend, long-lost, semi-invisible soulmate (even though I don't believe in that stuff and I also kind of fear him...)!
Spike movie! YAY!

Honestly I'm just happy that Joss is still happy, planning, working, interested in the Buffyverse among other things.

I know there are a lot of disappointed Firefly fans but the bottom line is that Serenity was a great movie. It combined good SciFi, action and special effects with characters you could care about and dialogue that was interesting. I ask you how often does that happen these days? I was not a Firefly watcher so my opinion is about Serenity independently from the series.

That makes me happy about the next projects that Joss has coming up. Wonder Woman, Goners, whatever he comes to do, if he does it as well as Serenity it will be fabulous.

But especially,

Spike Movie!!!
Wow... awesome way to start off the morning!

*trying to keep the squee-age to a minimum* we sat on his terrasse sipping our half-cal low-dioxide spritzers and watched the early evening smog rise and fall across the San Gabriel peaks.

This is my favorite phrase of the day :)
This is such great news, Joss--thanks for sharing. Am looking forward to all the new Buffy-ness, esp. the Spike movie, as well as WW, but I have a question: Any chance of any more Frey? I fell back in love with comics cuz of those books!
Hey Simon, do I get a cookie?

Several in fact :).

I'm also excited about the new Serenity comic book.
Very exciting news, this! I am always, always, ALWAYS open to more from Mr. Whedon.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you ad infinitum! Can't wait to see more of your ALWAYS STELLAR work, Joss!

That was $267 million in *Iowa City*, mister...Get it right! :D

You sound so giddy, a happy-go-lucky mental paitent. :) It's gonna be so much fun tonight to watch you match wits with Ms. Mars. Now, if you could just convince Rob Thomas to let you write a script... ;)

Rawk on, Mr. Whedon!
Thanks Joss - I just spit all over my screen laughing out loud!

Darn it - now I won't get that 50 cent raise this year! Good to hear all the great news though - I am of the happy camp now! Furthermore - I never felt like Serenity wasn't successful cuz dude - it got made!
Now, if you could just convince Rob Thomas to let you write a script...

Yeah enough of this slacking, Joss. Movies, comics, guest spots. What a lazy bum.
*dies....just... dies*

I'm moving to Canada. (or possibly Greece)
Several in fact :)

How about, someday when I'm rich and famous, I get my name in pink? TEH AWESOMEST.
Allyson <-- Like this?
Well, these are good news... but I must say not the ones I was hoping for. Of course, solid news of anything else (even just a common shopping list) with the cast of Firefly/Serenity were a fool's hope, but... well... I probably have what it takes to have white men knocking on my door. ;)

More seriously, a Spike TV movie is good news, but not necessarily for "us" is retard countries were all the monkeys are. Because, you know, this kind of movie is nearly never broadcasted here... and I don't know if they always end up in DVD.

As for the comics news, I guess I'll have to find back the path to some comic store ;). But, color me grumpy if you want, I would rather have more Fray stuff than Buffy stuff (except if they're full of Giles, Spike, Illyria and/or Wesley).

Anyhow I can't hide it, especially to myself: I am a real Buffy/Angel fan, no doubt about it... but I am an even stronger Firefly fan; and I became such a fan in only 3 episodes, whereas it took me several seasons of Buffy to become a real fan - not that the first seasons are not amazing, but it somehow took me more time to get attached to the show (of course, if it had taken me several seasons of Firefly to become a fan... ;) ).

zeitgeist is now my new favorite mod.
I win :) Interested to see where the new Buffy comics take us and how it gels/crosses over with other potential projects in other media.
I love Newsies lol. I own it on VHS. With all the mocking I get from friends, family, and people who barely know me, I thought I was alone in loving Newsies.
*sigh*...Joss called me a sweet thang..
[edited for general irrelevancy]

Joss, I love you.
This post was one of the finest birthday presents I could have today.
annosuperstar | November 09, 18:19 CET

Well, a day early for mine, but then my dad got it wrong too, so I guess I can forgive.

Spike movie! Buffy comic! Hooray!
I can't believe that nobody has said this, or maybe I'm just going blind. Is the Buffy Cannon anything like the Hunter S. Thompson Cannon? ZING!
""Ron Notmadeupperson

"I've never seen a better film. In fact, I've never seen any film." -- President Abraham Lincoln""

*S N O R T* Love the reviews! They're classic! (Especially Tim's)

Thanks Joss!

Who's doing the what now? Oh, right. Squee.
Wonderful to hear that things are clicking so well. I can't wait to see what comes next!
Well after all we are the coolest fans on the block. (2.11MB wmv file)
Oh... key... yeah... That was the weirdest Joss post ever. I'm mean sure, I like weird, it was a very refreshing and entertaining post. But yeah, weird. Wonder what he's on...

Still, VERY comprehensive post, it's always nicest to get a status update from the man himself. Seems like comic dispising (hate is just too strong) moi will end up buying even more comics cause canon expansions of Firefly- and Slayerverse? That's a must. Everything canon is a must in my book. Although I would really like to know what's new on the Goners front.

Hi, Joss! Thanks for keeping us posted!

Good luck and good sleep, eventually anyway...
SNT, you edited your post without ever getting an answer, and I was kinda curious about that too. I was guessing maybe Allyson provided Joss with the 17 passwords? But maybe it was nothing, just typical Whedonesque banter....
Is Allyson somehow connected to The Man? I get lost on the "big cheeses" around here! :)
If it helps any, I don't know what Simon and Allyson's cookie exchange was about. That is, their exchange regarding cookies, not an exchange of cookies. At least, so far as I know :)
I think Simon forwarded something to Allyson who forwarded something to someone who forwarded it to Joss. There was forwarding involved. If not, I haven't a clue.
Well, no, zeitgeist. That doesn't help!
edited to add, thanks Caroline. Glad someone knows what is going on here

[ edited by Lioness on 2005-11-09 23:30 ]
acp, I think it was as you suppose. Items changed hands, electrical signals were sent, and people were made happy. See, I can play cryptic too.

We can close the file on this one boys and girls.
Caroline has just described my entire role in fandom all these years. Someone forwards something to me, I forward something to someone else, who forwards it to Joss (or Tim, or Fury, or Jane, or any number of writers). Usually a forgotten password.
Wow flashbacking to a cookie dough speech with all this cookie talk.
I vote Allyson gets the pink pusher colour.
SNT - I've found that using two unrelated words in quotes usually gets people to pay attention (and sounds cryptic to boot!).
Heh. This cookie forwarding thing's mysterious and stuff.

Well after all we are the coolest fans on the block.

Hey, I had never seen that before! This just goes to show that I'm still a relative whedonesque newbie, really.

Thanks, RavenU :-)
Allyson does officially type things for Mr. Minear -, I think?
Can this thread be about the subject of the post again?
Loved the AMIAS comment! If you think about it, Alias probably wouldn't have made it on the air without Buffy, so that means Amy Acker got her new show thanks to the show her first job was spun-off of. How confusing is that?
Meanwhile, back on the topic. It'll be interesting to see how often the new Buffy comic is scheduled. I suspect it'll end up being a series of arcs or series of mini-series as Joss has so much else on his plate. Failing that I'd really love to see fill-ins by standouts like Mr. Minear and the infamous Drews along with Jane Espenson and Ben Edlund. Anyone else have thoughts about this?
This was a awesome update by Joss, Spike movie talk, and comics being written by him is excellent indeed.
I am cooler than anybody else I know, and I do behave accordingly. Awaiting Joss' next instruction.

Heh, my Dad just emailed Joss' entire post to me, not quite sure where he found it, he just laughed at the idea of Joss writing 2 comics a month. But it does mean that he knows there'll be more comics to add to his delivery orders soon, not so long ago I only got read one comic a month.

What's the "beefalo" about, I know what all the other words mean, or is it a brand new word from the mind of Joss Whedon.

We're just to pretty to die......

Go Joss!!!

(god, I'm starting to sound like a sparky cheerleader, that gottat be scary....)

I figure after the original four-issue arc by Joss, we'll head into new territory. It'll probably feature arcs, sure, seeing as the original Buffy comics worked the same way. But with the Joss seal of approval, I think other ex-ME-writers may just be willing to do a small arc as well, if they have the time. As far as I'm concerned, that would be brilliant. Honestly, if most of those people help out with the comic, it might just be a 'Buffy S8'...and that'd be just insanely wonderfull. Because even though I feel that the show was closed of thematically, I still crave new Buffyverse stories.

That having been said, I'm really interested in the Buffy/Immortal thing. It never quite clicked with me, and the whole thing on Angel just never worked for me. But this may just redeem that episode. It's the one ep in Angel S5 that kinda makes me cringe in places, so it'll be great to have another perspective there.
Ghost Spike - Use the google.
Piffle! Allyson gets her name in pink! Can I get mine in a cool color too? Or am I not cool enough?? *le sighe*
Wow. Loads of Jossy-goodness. It's the State of the UnionWhedon Address.

Lots of good news on all fronts (although hopefully next time there'll be more in the Firefly verse).

AND Joss made a Monty Python reference! You can never have too many of those. :)
Ah, ok, now I feel stupid, I'd never heard of a beefalo, just buffalo.
Celebrated Joss's post by going to see Serenity again this afternoon (I've lost count as to which time it was--yes, it's still playing in my area--actually told at the theater that it's doing quite well there). I had to print his post so I could read it on the way. No matter how many times I've seen the movie I still cry at the end.

What wonderful news about a Spike movie; I just hope James' schedule cooperates, I'd be heartbroken if it didn't happen.

Thanks for posting again, Joss; I'm always giddy when that happens.
Wow! These news have just did my day. Buffy canon comics (thank you Joss, perhaps your work is going to stop all these 8 season around the web), a possible Spike film and more Firefly comics. I could to say that I'm happy now if it wasn't for the nightmares that I'll probably have this night dreaming about smell computer and Wolferine's death...
Just as well the Internet doesn't have smell because if we could inhale Joss's cooking while reading his posts there might be sensory goodness overload.
So, the first 4 issues of the Buffy comic will be Joss's, then he will oversee others? I can live with that.
Incidentally, Joss's mention of Mike Alward shows he really does keep pretty good tabs on this site. Though I don't know if it's fair to say we gave him a "fair amount of snark." It wasw really just one poster (albeit a vocal one) who questioned what he did. And hey - it turned into Whedonesque's best party thread :-)
As always, I'm a little late to the party but it's nice to hear from the man himself!! Yay new Buffy and Serenity comics (wish they were new episodes but I'll take what I can get)!
Ok...I know I'm late to that same party today too, but I just had to join in and express my delight. Spike movie growing ever more possible....more Buffy comics, and the hint of even more for the Verse...whats not to be happy for??????

Oh my God, Joss is a Newsies fan. I love you a little more every day. ;)
Okay, on the off-off-off chance that Joss may read the 167th response to his post....

I have been looking for the right place and time to say this.

I loved Serenity. Loved it. Never had a chance to really get into Firefly, and thus I had no expectations before seeing the film. Didn't know what a "Browncoat" was.

And, nonetheless, I loved every single moment of Serenity.

I thought the themes were enormously relevant. I thought the language play and dialog were brilliant. I loved the performances.

I didn't look at my watch once, and I can't remember the last time I went to a movie that didn't seem over blown, over long and over loud.

I know Hollywood can be all about the numbers, but, you have something of value to say and you say it so beautifully. Please don't stop.
OK, I'm awake! Now what did I miss? OK not quite 300 posts. Also what's with all the pretty colours? Is it my eyes? Does Zeit have special powers? Is Joss filming WW in Oz?
These things need answers I tells ya!

p.s I did have sweet dreams as a matter of fact. Thanx for my Gnight messages! :)
Nixygirl, I haven't been at work long enough for you to have had a good night's sleep. Unless I'm working too many hours. And yes, Zeit has magic powers. Although not the same as your computer.
Thank you, Joss, for Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity. I've been with you since the first episode of Buffy. And I so hope you make a Spike movie and a sequel to Serenity. But I really wish you hadn't been so hard on Wash.

And, in case you read the 168th post, I would like to ask you to please release collections of some episodes of Buffy and Angel with extended versions using material that was cut for TV, making those 40 minute shows into maybe an hour. Lots of us are mature folks, and even those who started as teens watching Buffy, are pretty much grown-up now (well, as grown up as we can be). I've bought all the seasons of Buffy and Angel and the one of Firefly, and I still want more, more, more! Thanks for reading.
TexLuvAngel, I would love that!!!

-- like the bits cut out of the OUT OF MY MIND Spuffy dream sequence, there's publicity pictures and everything!!. Or CHOSEN!! The stuff that had to be cut out of CHOSEN!!
Buffy comics! Spike movie! Serenity sequ... oops. For a moment I was almost convinced it's already in the works.
Joss, please, make a Spike movie aboard Serenity. I know you can do it. You're omnipotent. Seriously. Bring Buffy and Spike aboard Serenity!
Bring Buffy and Spike aboard Serenity!

Grr, arg, no.
I can't wait to see Rent as well!

Wait . . . was he talking about . . . I think I'm confused . . . no, I think he's confused . . . Huh?
Gosh, I love Joss. I needed something to pick me up after spending hours watching the news in Arabic about suicide bombings in Amman--a town where a lot of my relatives live. I needed a pick-me-up, so I got my computer out and found this post. Thanks, Joss, you made my day. I might even go see that movie you directed? You directed a movie? Wow, cool!
Buffy and Spike on Serenity. Uh-huh. I'll respond with what I always tell my nearly 2 year old daughter:

I said no.

Woo! A big, long, hairy (?) Joss-post! Maybe not that hairy, but hey, who's judging...
Woo! Thanks Joss. Happiness abounds in my drnk-addled brain. The one night I have a social life, and Joss posts. He did this when I went on holiday too...i's nice to have the world revolve around me...
Woo! Buffy stuff! Wondy stuff! (spangly knickers). He gave me happiness, and not for the first time. Hee.

Arabchick - hope all your loved ones are ok.
Nixy - damn, girl! From my rather late to the table perspective you went to bed and came back here within about 10 minutes! If only I had your stamina...
I myself am off up the apple and pears to Bedforshire! 'Night Joss, 'night all!

This thread brings a multi-hued riot of colour to the bleak gray wasteland that is Week 2 of NaNoWriMo. Why did I do it? Because it was there!
This would be the day I work till late and don't log on til bedtime.
Joss is so God.

That is all.

I love Joss! And I, too, have been dying to see the Rent movie since forever. I will have to settle for seeing Veronica Mars rent a car from Joss, though. Not a bad deal!
I believe it can be summed up thus: w00t!
Words of Joss, a delight to mine eyes ... and you're going to be on TV tonight, too? The stars, they do align. (What sign are you, anyway? Sasquatchattarius? Cantaloupe?) *fearless from knowing this is so far down, JW will never see it*

Speaking of stars, as this is my birth month I will consider this an early (and since I've never told you my birthday was coming up, eerily prescient) gift -- thanks, you, for more 'verse honey-to-come from that ever-buzzin' Joss hive-brain. "I just can't get enough / of that sweet, sweet stuff..."

No Goners info means that's the project I'm going to be most curious about starting ... right ... NOW. And please, please tell me you're thinking about KB as a one-day-maybe-perhaps Melaka Fray? Sticking a little Post-it note inside the back of your skull? C'mon -- feed the fantasy, I just need a little something...

p.s. Serenity? Love.

Thanks, Joss! I was having a pretty bummer day today, but reading this after lunch this afternoon cheered me up. I am all awash in excitement.

Greater possibilities of a Spike movie?! Sounds awesome; I really cannot wait. Do please get James out of that horrid horrid land of the melodrama and bad special effects the WB likes to call Smallville.

I am more than elated at Buffy canon comics! You do not know how long I have waited for more Buffy canon material...I'm sorry, those Angel: The Curse comics and that Spike: Old Times trade paperback just did not cut it for me. So glad to see you're getting back to the Buffyverse!

And, whaddaya know?! The Firefly/Serenity 'verse lives on as well! Though I would prefer a tale set after the film, one set during the series is more than mighty fine.

And...dude...I seriously cannot wait for year two of Astonishing X-Men. I really do want you to stay on after that, though... :'(

Anyway, enough with that little downbeat note!

Thanks purple Joss! ;-)
Muuuuch love to ya, Joss. As always, you're the bestest of the best!
Yay! :) this lovely long Joss post makes today just keep getting better! It started off good, because I have tickets to see SERENITY! after a year and a half of waiting, my ticket says I get to see the BDM in 6 hours in a theatre full of browncoats! *squee* And still mostly fairly unspoiled!!

I'm thinking this post was fueled by a higher level of sleep deprivation and caffeine. A great thing to read when getting to work in the morning :) Thanks Joss! And I'm sure your role on VM was/will be (having time zone issues here) great. We're still watching season 1, but I'll look out for you sometime next year.
Thanks for the massive update, Joss! Once again proving that lack of sleep maketh the amusing and scoop filled post.

Or something.

I didn't know what I was going to do with myself now that Serenity is almost over in Oz, but now I have so much more to look forward to! Yay!

Thanks again for all the 'verses, Joss, and for being a fantabulously wondrous human being (albeit a hollow shell of a man, obviously...)
*impatiently awaits the Buffy and X-men comics*
This PLUS Joss on VM? My birthday week is complete. Thanks for checking in, Joss. *grins like a maniac*
So many projects. So much to look forward to. Spike movie! (almost hyperventilating)

Sounds as though there are a lot of us with early November birthdays. Nice present to all of us.
Hadn't thought about it but I, too, have a birthday Friday, so this was a great present!
all i can say is..Joss=MY HERO!!!!
I'm late Scorpio (Sag cusp) and yes, super-nice of our man to stop by and give us the ol' heads-up. (Birthday happies to all my fellow venomous arthropods, btw :)

[On a personal note, my dear old cat died a couple weeks ago and I've been living under a bit of a cloud ever since. (Bestest. cat. ever. RIP, Tricky the Pook.) Having VM to look forward to, and now this massive missive of good tidings, has done much to cheer the gloom. It's very much appreciated.]

It's taking shape and soon you will know its name.

Since it was oh-so subtly hinted at in the headline, let me take a wild guess: Melvin?
Joss is purple - does that make him related to Barney.

I Mock Thee Melvin!!!!!!!!!!

>>See this is my mock face! >>:P

Well, I certainly can't say much more, except that Wonder Woman is finally kicking ass that is not my ass, as in, I'm loving this script. She's saving the world in a tiara, people; this is why there's a me!

Joss, I don't know why there is a you but I thank God for it every day!

I'm real glad to see you posting back (and so lengthily) at Whedonesque though. I sure was getting jealous of those other sites.
Joss! There was this dude, that looked just like you on my current fav show Veronica Mars. Whowouldhavethunkit? When fandoms collide.

Great to see you, both on VM and on here posting! =)
I just hope it pans out, I can't wait to see more canon.

Numfar! Do the dance of joy!
Saving the world in a tiara? LOL. I can't wait for WW.

And Joss, you were so huggable on VM tonight.

*crosses fingers you make a surprise appearance at the Serenity Flanvention - I'll be the one passed out on the floor
. . . or straddling Nathan*
Wait. Who else besides me has a birthday on Friday? This was a great present!
Best. Day. Ever. Spike movie (oh, please god), Buffy canon, more Firefly comics? Joss as the cutest rental car salesman ever! ***cough-the model sucked- cough*** I'm so excited.
Thanks for giving us the news, Joss! I want to work for you. By the way.
OK, and I'm back!
Lioness and Lone Fashion Wolf - Yes, I sleep little in the dark hours! I think I got about 5 hours, not bad for me. Oh believe me, many a time Browncoats have come online telling me to go to bed! I'm like a kid. Then after a fortnight of it, I sleep for an entire day almost. That is why I'm so psychotic. Truly, ask anyone!

Catalyst2 - Wow! So how far into your novel are you, and when do I get to read??

Zuckerbaby - OK, really any excuse I use to say your name online is a good one. Basically, hello. Podcast this Monday, yip! We'll have plenty to do in Oz if Joss makes WW down here. (fingers crossed)

Joss - Stop lurking and post some more please! ;)
Poor Buffy! Such a short break from cruel Joss. Now misery will be back again in her life :))
Good Joss, it's 3 in the morning and here I am trying to parse this statement:
. . . but I'm so proud of the movie [Serenity] and all my peeps, and we'll drag it into the black (or take it out to the black) soon enough.

It has a postive cast to it. "Drag" as in keep working it in the market and make some cash, all in good time. And then there's "take" as in relaunch, according to my few grains of grey matter, the good ship Serenity, all in good time. This last insert is vague enough to make me question my interpretation but just positive enough to make me feel positive. Er, is that making any sense, or should I go to bed?
Drifter - I took it to be a reference to the firefly theme song. "Take me out into the black, tell 'em I ain't comin' back, Burn the land, boil the sea---you can't take the sky from me."
But... don't stop feeling positive on my account!
Happy days :-D

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the scoops! Can't wait to see all of it.
Purplehazel I thought he was talking about it making it's money back; i.e it's in the red or in the black?
But what do I know. Uneducated, hillbilly that I am!
Isn't it great that Joss' words have so many layers of meaning!
Isn't it great that Joss' words have so many layers of meaning!

The third letter in every fifth word reveals the plot of Goners *nods*.

This is about the 10th time I've read this, there's something new to pick up in it everytime. It's a great post.
nixygirl - yes I thought he was talking about red/black too - but also with a firefly nod; rather than in the sense that the numbers were close (though the two are of course not mutually exclusive).
Wow, news sure does travel fast on the internet (like we didn't already know that. Joss posting this update here has already been reported at Newsarama and Comic Book Resources.

No doubt about it, when Joss speaks, the world listens! Well, the Joss Whedon fandom part of the world anyway! :)
Simon, That is one weird plot! Not quite sure I understood all of it.
Lioness, the fifth 'e' was supposed to be silent. Now it makes sense, right?
Hey Allyson
(Just checking to see if I could do it too)
Happy happies Wiseblood and Nebula, as this is my birthday month as well as my young one's. Poor Mr. Aargh, with so many Scorpio's in the house, the man's bound to get stung.

In case anyone's interested, apparently a Joss post plus Joss as car-rental-manager-dude equals a long and fruitful Joss dream in my world. That man's a strange bug in my dream world, that's for sure.
Ah, 'tis mine and ED's birthday month too. I fear we Scorps will take over the planet!! Well, not so much a fear as a deep desire....
Thanks SOOOOOOOOOO much for posting Joss !!!!
I hope something does come of the Spike movie - I have been holding my breath for a very long time for this - and let me tell you - blue is NOT my color !
Rogue Slayer - Stop giving away the not-so-secret Scorpio plan for world domination. Unlike us October Scorpios, you November Scorps just don't know when to keep your mouths shut. ;-)
Yeah, you October Scorpios are under the radar. Lucky stingers, you! :~)
Didn't realize we had so many Scorps 'round here. But yes, we November Scorps are mouthy, aren't we??? Happy happies to Ed and Rogue Slayer as well. . .
Hey Joss man, what about a Lorne comic. I'd like to know what he did after killing Lindsey.
Just joining in on the Scorpio Birthday celebration, mine was Monday. Happy Birthday, fellow Scorps.
RavenU, for a clue to what Lorne is up to post-NFA, watch Spin the Bottle. My theory is that Lorne has been out there telling stories about his adventures with Angel and the gang to empty (or maybe not-so-empty) night clubs post-NFA, and those scenes of him were exactly that.

[ edited by electricspacegirl on 2005-11-10 21:02 ]
I don't know electricspacegirl - the Lorne that was from Spin the Bottle and the Lorne from Not Fade Away, seemed like very different people and after killing Lindsey I don't know if Lorne could ever get or go back to that other Lorne. I think killing another person changed him and I think it would be very interesting to find out what happen to him. I hope Joss considers doing a comicabout him, or one of the other verse writers to do it.
As usual, it's best to avoid the talkback on the Aintitcool post about this, bits of it will just make you want to break things, or people.
Well, Ghost Spike, you know everyone will go there now. And according to AICN, the comics will take place after the last episode of season 4. And while that's not technically Joss going to retcon himself??? :~P
Wow! A high percentage of Scorpios on this site! I think it's time to take over the world now. :-)
Scorpio here too Nebula! I thought we already owned the world (did you miss that memo?) ;) but if you have plans to take over the universe I'm so totally with you.
Happy Birthday TamaraC and all fellow scorps!

PS: sorry Mods for the non-topicness... So for some on-topicness: I can't wait to see what the Immortal is going to look like in the comic book. Or maybe they'll keep him off-screen at all times like Charlie (of the Angels) and Stan Walker (or the Will & Grace). OK so totally on my way to get a life now.
You know I wouldn't mind a comic about Chantrel/Lily/Anne either. I think she was one of the most interesting fringe characters Joss and the team ever came up with, not to mention one of the characters that changed the most through out the run of the series in her brief appearances. Also one last thing - thanks for bringing her back in the last episode of Angel if only for a few moments.
Just letting you know that it is an honor and a pleasure to post on the same page as you, Mr. Whedon.

Your work is inspirational, uplifting, and unforgettable.

You have touched everyone's life that posts at this message board and then some. My thanks to you, sir.
Woohoo, I go away for over 2 weeks and the day I get back there's a huge Joss post (I know it's a day later now but I wanted to read all the comments before posting and I had major sleep-deprevation combined with jetlag that means I've only just caught up, well I also had 2 eps of VM to catch up on as.)

Anyway, once again with the yay, canony Buffy comics and more Firefly comics - ubershiny!
Squeelicious! The internet aroma of anticipation has me dancing on my toes! More Jossness to come!
Joss is possibly going to write a new Buffy comic series with a possible tie in to a possible Spike movie. Just look at all the possibilities. With Joss, the possibilities are endless.

And Joss, if you're still possibly thinking about killing Wolverine, you might want to possibly think about going into hiding.

I think we'll call a moratorium on the use of fancy font colors (OK, you can still use purple for sarcasm - provided you remember how to, that is . . . ) - that last example done gone hurt my eyeballs.

And we all know Wolvie never really gets killed. I mean, how many times has he been shot, stabbed, blown up? Blame the darn mutant healing factor (assuming he still has that power - I can never keep up with the x-changes these days. Does he still have an adamantium skeleton, or was that lost forever after Magneto sucked it out of him?)
What's a Melvin?
(This was uncalled for).
What's wrong with using colors? I would have used them before but I only just found out how to do it on here yesterday. Viewing the source code of a page can be your friend.
Text should be in the color that this comment is in. Some color, as in a word or two, for emphasis is fine, entire posts are not. Partially for continuity reasons, wanting to keep a continuous look and feel to the site as a whole, plus color can shift meaning and context quite easily (see above).

Let's stick to the default colors please.
OK. I won't post entirely in color ever again. I know now that it was wrong and completely uncalled for. You are truly the boss of me. I am very sorry.

Ok, sorry about that sarcasm joke there. I just couldn't resist doing it. But really, if you don't want me to post in color again then I wont. I just never knew that I wasn't allowed to. That's all.
Coloured type can also be harder to read, making the eyes refocus constantly as various parts of letters are consumed by the background colour. Also, there are centuries of reason why black on white or white on black have survived. These colour pairs have a natural sharp contrast, which is especially helpful when font letters have weak ascenders and descenders, or flourishes that disappear into the background. (Not all fonts are letter perfect.) Ahem.
SNT, Wolverine still has his healing factor and the adamantium skeleton is back too, thanks to Apocalypse, believe it or not. The current House of M storyline has left him with some other changes however. Can't wait to see how Joss is going to deal with them in AXM.
LOL Drifter - you need to include a mortise and a reference to kerning though...

LOL II SpikeBad - view source is my friend too. Helped me fix a bug yesterday.
Joss posts, proves once again that he is not empty inside by showering us with sparkly ideas, new Buffyverse arc will make us tremble, already going full speed with the trembling, pls Joss thou that delivers unto us our Buffyverse needs, dont make us wait to long, cause that trembling thing, makes life difficult.

Scorpios does indeed rule the world, happy birthday to us.
So the main reason why I can't write in color is just to make you feel better? Right...
I've been going through Whedon withdrawl since Angel left the air. The Buffyverse and Fireflyverse can be continued anyway you want: tv series, feature films, tv movies, dvd movies, cartoon series, novels, comic books, or video games, just please give us more Joss. You're among my favorite storytellers in the world today.
Pretty cool, quoting Whedonesque!
Quote Nebula1400
"What's a Melvin?"

Melvin is American slang for a boring person.
Joss, incase you are reading this, there are two important things I need you to know:
1) You are a genius and we all love you very much, and
2) I am seriously miserable without having new Buffy and Angel episodes to look forward to, and I know you said its ok but I need more! Or a Spike spin off or maybe Illyria. Just make us a new show please :-)

Love Crystal xxxx
I think the best way to end a crappy day is to read a post written by your hero.
Thanks Joss!!!
Here's to being homely and empty inside.

You're the best!
Rudy .....(wishing the grace of Joss would descend upon his Buffy Tarot Cards)
yeah - he's still alive!, buffyverse is still alive!, more firefly comics - now just weave some Lady Agnew or Shakespeare to keep the Brits happy
All right, in regards to the tags, who tipped Joss off that my favorite breed of cow is a beefalo? Seriously, I thought I was the only person outside of Wisconsin to even know of this majestic hybrid of awesome + awesomer. Well, that's Joss for me, keeping me on my toes with his extremely broad knowledge. And shoulders. He undoubtedly has broad shoulders.
Rent is simply amazing.

I really do need to read these Buffy comics that Joss speaks of. Perhaps they will quench my thirst for all things Whendonesque :)

Oh, and we love Joss a really really lot, despite the fact that he is empty inside.
He's empty inside?
gossi, I wondered the same thing. But, if you look waaaaaaaay up at the top of the page, Joss wrote:

Just remember it's what's INside that counts, as I used to remind girls in high school constantly. CONSTANTLY - until I realized that I was empty inside. Empty and homely. Man, that's a rough combo. Where was I? O yea, the DVD.

How I remembered Joss had said something like that in this post (from November, ffs!) is almost beyond me. (Answer: plainly, I have no life.) ;-)
