Kitchen Confidential Confirmed Cancelled. "Also getting the ax at Fox is "Arrested's" companion on Monday, the freshman comedy "Kitchen Confidential," whose order will not be extended beyond the initial 13 episodes."

7th Heaven cancelled??? FINALLY!!! God what a crappy show. It featured a lot of baaaaaaaadd acting in its later years. Oh man...then again its kinda sad, 7th Heaven was Buffy's partner back in the day....its the last main player that put the WB on the map. C-ya Heaven.
7th Heaven is gone!!!! Yippee! What an awful show that was... And concerning Kitchen Confidential, how could they expect people to watch it when it never aired? Are they completely bonkers or something? And I never actually watched Arrested Developement...
As for Nick's show, I was hoping, but the ratings didn't show any support. I wish Nick the best. I'm thinking he'll get another show next season.

As for 7th Heaven? I could get nasty on that one, but I'll play nice. Good riddenence.
I finally get into Arrested Development and it gets cancelled? That's so sad!
I absolutely adore "Kitchen Confidential." Of course it gets cancelled! Blah. Another good show bites the dust--following in the short, yet lovely, footsteps of "Dead Like Me," as far as I'm concerned.

I live in hope of a network that will give a show more than a three episode chance. I'm dreaming--but, one can hope.
I borrowed the first season of Arrested Development off my friend last fall and loved it. Watched many episodes in a row at a time, 'cause they're like crack (and it definitely helps to watch it all in order from the beginning, for those who've tried sampling random episodes and not been caught like it, which is what originally happened with me during the airing of its first season). Was waiting for her to buy Season 2 as well, but after this...hell I feel like going out and buying Season 1 and 2 in protest (remember--Fox Home Entertainment good, Fox network [mostly] bad!). I wonder if they'll have any luck shopping it around. You'd think with Ron Howard behind it they'd be able to pull off something (though I guess it has kinda been a miracle that the series was able to hang on for this long).

Should we warn the Arrested Development and Kitchen Confidential viewers who aren't in the know that they may have to wait for the DVD to see some or all of those unaired episodes, despite Fox's tentative scheduling plans? 'Cause Fox saying they'd air/burn off all of Firefly, Andy Richter, The Tick, The Inside, and possiby even Wonderfalls (and probably many more than that) and then going back on their word to the media/viewers means I never trust them in cases like these.
That seriously sucks.

Here's the petition:

I recently saw Arrested Development for the first time, and I loved that show too. It's a horrible day.

Sorry, bad post on my part.

I'd like to propose a win-win for a great show and a network on the slide--HBO, go buy Arrested Development! Release those writers and actors from network censorship and stretch episodes to a half hour, I think the series could stand a legitimate chance of taking the whole endeavor to a higher level. HBO could use a respected hit, even if it was a somewhat recycled one. Love to see it happen, won't hold my breath.

Looks like our good friend Sarah Thompson/Eve is back looking for work too. The optimist in me says this just frees her and Nick up for the Spike movie.

Kitchen Confidential, while nothing spectacular, was an affable and enjoyable little comedy. Probably deserved better, but hey, this is Fox we're talking about--you're marked for death the day you're born over there.
R.I.P. Bluth family... You'll be missed. *sigh*
I'm so depressed.

There is a possibility that the show will be shopped around, but its high cost is expected to be prohibitive for a cable network.

Can someone please explain this? Why does it have a high cost? I would think being a comedy it would have a low cost -- there are no special effects, no expensive sets to build, and the actors, while being well-known, aren't the kind to demand mega-salaries. Plus, doesn't HBO have some money? Are cable networks known to be poor? I was under the impression they were all mostly doing pretty well for themselves.
7th heaven gone, wow took them long enough.
HBO doesn't buy non-original programming. It won't happen. They'd be talking to places like FX, TNT, and maybe, maybe Comedy Central. And, yes, as an Emmy winning (adds money) comedy with low low viewership (loses money), it likely costs too much for the risk.

KC...not too sad to see it go, though it did get "Foxed" in the way it was pulled in and out of the schedule.

I'm gonna go cry in my soup now. I love those Bluths!
Well... it makes a change to be bummed out here about the cancellation of a series that Joss wasn't involved in.
I haven't seen Kitchen Confidental yet, I don't know if it will ever see the light of day over here, but I hope it is released on DVD so I can get it. I'm a fan of both Nick Brendon and Bradley Cooper so I'd like to see it, and again it seems like another example of a decent show with a lot of talented people on board and a lot of potential that is cancelled way too early.
I'm utterly unsurprised. I liked KC, from the little I've seen of it, it had the potential to be the best post-BtVS endeavor out of all the actors, and now it's gone. And, AD (best show on TV right now) is finally dead. I've been waiting for this to happen since the FIRST season. I thank God every day that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was on WB.

And from an article I read in the SF Chron, don't look to a cable netlet picking up AD. Apparently it's one expensive half hour. Not that the show is so expensive, but the very talented cast -- Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Will Arnett, Jessica Walters, David Cross -- is.

Not only is the cast of AD expensive, but its rating are below that of 7th Heaven... how scary is that. To Fox's credit, they kept this show on a lot longer than they should have from a business standpoint. I love it and watch it regularly, but it has been a ratings disappointment from day one.

I love glass-half-full people. ;)

I hoped KC would work, as I, too, like NB and BC. I saw two of the three episodes aired, and I thought they were just OK. I liked them better than the two episodes I've seen of Aly's show, but her show has the advantage of being totally unoriginal and being on a major network. KC tried to be a bit innovative on Fox. Disastrous combination, that.
This is just apalling. Fox had two great and clever comedies at their hands, and could've done better, if they knew how to sell them. It's deja vu all over again. They don't sell them properly, then blame ratings, or underestimate the public, saying that low ratings happenned because public were not getting it.

Just read something about "Freddie" getting a full season order. My friend, was giving a try out for the show, and I happenned to be around. I think that getting flayed alive, must be more pleasant than going through two episodes of this show. Don't know how I came out alive from that hour. Really painful.

How come crappy shows, just keep getting more chances, and good shows just get shoved away? Why? Why?

Don't mind me, I'm really cranky today.

I'd like to know the same thing, Numfar.

How very sad about AD. I rented the first season from Netflix a few months ago and fell head over heels (in fact I just bought a "Never Nudes" shirt).

At least 7th Heaven is finally gone! That certainly brightens things up for me.
Isn't this the exact same info as posted several threads below?
This is confirmation that they are both cancelled and what their final season orders are. The earlier thread was speculation, though this probably could've existed just fine as a comment in that thread rather than a thread in its own right.
I think the other thread was about the shows being pulled from sweeps week(s) and this link seems to confirm the actual cancellation of both shows.

At least for now, it looks like at least some of KC's 13 eps will air, just not until Dec 5th. I hope that really happens.
Poor Nick...
Damm Fox, with just three episodes aired, what they were expecting for? So, there are 13 filmed episodes of Kitchen Confidential?
Or they're filming them right now?

Aly, give Nick a job on How I Met Your Mother!
I debated just posting it as a comment to the earlier thread, but I thought confirmation of the cancellation merited a post of its own. I could be wrong.
Aly, give Nick a job on How I Met Your Mother!

If nothing else, he should at least guest star on Veronica Mars.
Wait, I know. Let's bring him into VM and pair him up with Charisma as Kendall jealous ex. Deja vu anyone?

Must agree with zeithgeist. Though we were waiting for the other shoe to drop, there it is. This news is quite sad, but expected.

That's worse than what happenned with Woderfalls. WOnderfall got 4 episodes, and at least was a full hour show. KC is just a half-hour show. And they were even hyping Vartan's cameo in the next new episode.

If nothing else, he should at least guest star on Veronica Mars.

At this pace, Rob will have to make a VERY SPECIAL EPISODE OF VERONICA MARS: BUFFY CAST REUNION.
Dude! That sucks.

What would we do without the internet & DVD? I mean, seriously?
this link seems to confirm the actual cancellation of both shows.

But it doesn't. It uses the word "cancel" in the title, but there's been no official cancellation statement by Fox. We already knew they'd cut down the orders and that they'd pulled them for sweeps. Supposedly, they're coming back December 5. Most of us aren't optimistic, but it's still possible that they'll finish out the thirteen episodes. KC, because it's a new show, won't be coming back. AD is...up in the air. But neither of them is officially cancelled yet, because there is still the promise of new episodes to air.
There are 6 weeks(Dec 5) before 24 comes back on. KC has 10 episodes left, AD has 8 episodes left. I suppose they will do back to back episodes on monday nights.

I think, www.getarrested.com is the site to sign... even though it's from earlier this year.

Bring on Eyepatch Xander!
So not surprised. Another one bites the dust. (oh you know you're singing the tune in your head). KC deserved far better than this!!!
So this means they get a movie made now? (kidding!)

Almost right, Polter-Cow, the previous link didn't say what number they had been cut to for their respective orders and didn't use the C word for AD. Though you are right that its still not the word on high from our lords and amsters at F*x.
AD has a high cost? It's filmed with Handicams!
our lords and amsters

I for one welcome our new 'amster overlords and their little spinny wheels :-)

(Sorry - had to be said)
This news totally ruined my weekend (I'd read it somewhere else before coming and seeing it here). All of the other articles I've seen are saying that KC and AD haven't had their full-season orders yet, which means they'll *probably* be cancelled. The only good thing about this Yahoo article is that they're jumping the gun and confirming a cancellation that hasn't actually been confirmed yet. But I think it's pretty clear that it's going to happen.

Arrested Development is the best sitcom on television, and has been since it began. I HATE sitcoms with the stupid laugh-tracks that tell me when to laugh (because apparently the jokes aren't funny enough to signal laughter on their own). Arrested Development is so quirky, funny, and weird, and has such a great ensemble cast. Then when the new season started up, I noticed shows like Kitchen Confidential, Everybody Hates Chris, and My Name Is Earl were all following the similar formula -- no laugh track, with a voiceover that helps narrate the story and add things to what you're seeing on the screen. And all three new shows are funny.

I hate to say it, and this is my opinion only, but I do not find How I Met Your Mother funny at all. I tried. I watched the first ep. Hated it. And was very upset that I hated it because any show that gives me more Alyson for a half hour a week is worth its weight in gold. Except this one, apparently. I tried again. Couldn't make it to the end. Tried again for the Halloween episode. Nearly cried it was so terrible.

And yet Nick is on this really funny, interesting show (with Sam from Freaks and Geeks!!) and it's getting the ax.

I don't know about you guys, but I no longer trust anything coming out on FOX. Why bother watching anything on that network? It'll just get cancelled if it's good. And if it stinks, it'll stay on for an eternity. Prison Break seems to be an exception, along with The Simpsons, but there really isn't a lot else on that network. Firefly? Sorry, cancelled. Point Pleasant? Ditto. Oh wait, here's a good one called Kitchen Conf-- oh, you're only going to play 3 episodes? Well, at least I can be slightly consoled by Arrested Dev-- wait, where did it go?

It's just tiring. The executives at FOX have very fidgety trigger fingers aimed at our favorite shows, and they don't seem to hesitate before firing.
Well, Nikki, you pretty much summed it up for me. KC never has had any chance for success at all. It was cancelled before it aired.
I totally agree Nikki. I tried watching HIMYM a couple of times and absolutely hated it. I love AH and I'm happy for her that it's a success but I just don't get why it is. On the other hand, KC started off a little slowly but by the third episode it was coming along quite nicely and was really funny.

This is why I normally don't bother watching shows on Fox anymore. How can a show possibly find an audience when less than a handful of episodes were shown. This is Wonderfalls all over again.
