Greg Edmonson thanks fans for their support in getting the soundtrack. Greg Edmonson (the composer of Firefly's score) posts on the OB thanking fans for their support.

"For all of your very kind emails and all that you have done to get the soundtrack out -I thank you. miracles do happen, I think!!"

Greg is a very kind, awesome guy (if his response to my gushing emails is any indication). He deserves any and all praise for his work on Firefly. His music was the final ingredient that lifted the show to the high level it sits at in all of our hearts and minds.

As much as I anticipate certain exchanges and moments as I continually watch an episode, I'm also equally anticipating hearing a particular cue, and it just sends a shiver, like you're not just hearing it, you're feeling it.

That's why I'm so grateful that the music stands on its own apart from the episodes when you're listening. It's THAT good. I'll remember where the music was in the show, but I don't enjoy the soundtrack because it brings back episode memories, I enjoy it for the music alone. My favorite track on the CD, is a piece of music you can barely hear in the show.

To clarify: Take the Buffy soundtracks, for instance. Nice pop songs all, but nothing truly awesome musically, imo. I didn't purchase any of the bands CDs or anything after hearing the songs. However, I'll enjoy them on the CD mostly because they bring me back to that moment in the show, otherwise I could take it or leave it. For me personally, that's the difference.

Which is another reason I'm glad HoC wasn't on the CD. It would've broken the pureness of the flow. Am I alone in my adoration?

What a class act.
I think Christophe Beck composed some gorgeous music for season 2 of Buffy...
Yes, Christophe Beck composed some brilliant music for the second season of Buffy, especially the Buffy/Angel love theme, which snagged the series one of its only Emmy Awards, and still brings a tear to my eye.

However, Greg Edmonson's music on Firefly is even better. I don't know if I would buy a score CD of Buffy, but I am certainly planning on buying Firefly's.

I was rewatching "Serenity" last night, and the music is just so achingly sad and beautiful, especially in that gorgeous moment during which Inara just sits there and bathes. And when Mal sees the Alliance ships descend on Serenity Valley, and Bendis dies...the look on his face coupled with the music...

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
No, each Buffy composer did a great job. But out of seven years, there's only five music moments I remember, and I've rewatched Buffy even more than Firefly: the Buffy/Angel love theme, the score from "Restless," the music from Buffy's tower swan dive in "The Gift," OMWF (which maybe shouldn't count), and the music from the final battle in "Chosen."

And funnily enough, they all happen to be on one soundtrack or another. I'm sure I'd gain new appreciation if other music was compiled on a score CD (like I did with Angel's), but still, with Firefly it's different, because even when it was on FOX, the music stood out to me, and I soaked up every guitar twang that led into a flying shot of Serenity, as much as I did the big, moving scores.

The comparison isn't entirely fair, I know, because the the two shows were different animals, therefore the musical approach was different, but, I guess I made it anyway.
Personally I want a mashup of the Buffy, Angel and Firefly theme songs.
I wasn't massively fond of the Firefly music looking back at it. It's good, but not great to me.

But then, I think I'm the only fan of the Angel and The Inside scoring. There's a great many musical memories which stick out for me with Angel.
I think sometimes with score, it shows how fantastic it is if it sticks out at you and you remember it really well, or sometimes the fact that you don't notice it much is also telling of how perfectly it fit the scene and didn't over take what was on screen. With Buffy, Angel and Firefly, I frequently noticed how good the score was, although I might not always have remembered it afterwards.

I really enjoyed the Angel and Serenity soundtracks, and am eagerly awaiting the Firefly soundtrack, now I just want a Buffy score soundtrack and I will be satisfied.
