Nathan goes gagging at Starfury Serenity. At Starfury Serenity in London yesterday, Nathan had an 8 or so minute blooper reel for Serenity he showed everybody. Read on to find out more about the weekends events.

The blooper reel - I'm assuming most of which has been shown will end up on the DVD - was absolutely fantastic. It's very well put together, all credit to whoever edited it. It has a several minute section about how bad Summer is (which, by the way, is tongue in cheek), which includes conversations with Joss, Chris Buchanan and Nathan about recasting the role.

As to be expected, there's many moments of Nathan being playful, Summer messing up her lines and Morena swearing. And yes, we have Nathan dancing.

Somebody does have a copy of the gag reel on DVD, however I'm unsure if it's okay to distribute so it's doubtful it will go online at the moment.

The actual Q&A sessions for the weekend have been fairly good. Jonathan Woodward has occasionally been a little drunk on stage, but this is nothing new.

Nathan gave a nice recounting of his Amsterdam premiere experience, which included visiting a coffee shop, buying things, reading Harry Potter and crying.

So, to all the other fellow Whedonesquer's I've met over the weekend, recount your stories!

That's awesome. Can't wait for the DVD. Thanks for the recount.
Can we find another link for this one? I really do prefer if links are more relevant to a post. I deleted one yesterday about a poll in a magazine that linked to the magazine's homepage which did not contain any information on the poll. This is a similar situation. If you just want to tell your story, do it at whedonesque.org or on your blog, or livejournal so someone else can link to it.

The blooper reel sounds great though, will it be on the DVD?
I do not think anybody has blogged about it yet..

I doubt the whole thing will end up on dvd as it has a lot of swearing. Will try to find out if putting it online is allowed. The convention officially ends tomorrow so expect more reports then. About 800 people or so saw it - all credits to Nathan for arranging it.

ETA: random things from the last talk;

It is indeed Morena's voice during the operative computer thingy.

It is joss voice over the "you;re the browncoats" bit in the vault.

Nathan voiced a reaver scream.

Nathan knows Book's history and Blue Sun history.

Jewel knows Inara's history.

The cast still think those tales will come out in some form.

Jewel is still pretty.

Nathan.. Bitch bitch bitch.

I thought so, I just couldn't work out why 'cos the guy onscreen isn't Joss.

Glad that they're still optimistic about the the story having some kind of a future.
Joss explained, somewhere, that for a reason that escapes me, he looped that man's lines and it just kind of stuck.
Gag reel! Need to see gag reel. I finally re-downloaded the unedited Firefly gag reel after I realized how unhappy I was showing new viewers just the stripped version on the DVDs. If this Serenity gag reel makes it online too, I'll have to save it just in case the one on the DVD is horribly edited down too.
Is there a place where this legendary complete firefly gag reel is available for download (NOT p2p link, I don't have such softwares)?

The links here all seem down...
Also, I heard along the grapevine that Tim Minear revealed Inara's secret at a screen writing event recently - is there any truth in that, anybody know? I was told a complete breakdown of an episode where it is revealed by somebody, and it's a bit ooooh and arrrr and did Tim really say that.
Anyone know where I can download the old gag reel?

Tim did reveal an unwritten Firefly plot to do with Inara but said that it wasn't anything to do with her "big seekrit".
Ahh, Paul_Rocks, curious. I need to see that episode. And I also need to own an Amiga again.
RavenU, I saved it to my computer, but I think I located it on one of the many browncoat websites.
Well, the mystery of the vial/syringe from Firefly's pilot is a "big secret" to some of us. Many including myself were a lot more interested in the deal with that than the one about why she was really aboard Serenity and left her House. So I thought Tim's reveal was pretty interesting (if horrific). I mean some people suspected that was what it was, but that they were actually gonna do that storyline if the show had continued is pretty surprising to me.

gossi, here's the link: LiveJournal entry from an attendee of Tim Minear's screenwriting workshop (the non-Firefly stuff is interesting too)

I know, I heard that from the first, and was very happy when Joss confirmed it at the browncoats board!
Man you know what I want to see in gag reels and bloopers? In interviews I read that sometimes, Nathan asked for one more take after Joss said cut, and then did a scene again acting drunk. "Sho you wanna know 'bout the Reaversh? D'ywanna know? Dyawannaknow?" (familiar to those of us who remember the 'drunk sorrority girl' character from SNL)

Those kind of stories always give the idea that this was such a fun set (either FF or S) and I'd love to see more of that.

Well, the (series) DVD one had Nathan saying "How do you turn this f##king thing off?" at the very start of it... :)

How long is the unedited one?
The unedited one is about 3 times as long as the one on the DVD, I seem to recall (talking about Firefly here).
And it is hilarious indeed... but I understand why it couldn't be on the DVD (some copyrights problems).
Yep. The Starfury gag reel also probably has the same issues - it had copyrighted music added, and a Caleb-from-Buffy mesh doll giving Jewel Staite the finger..
If somone has the unedited gag reel or the Starfury gag reel and would like to e-mail it to me, my address is in my profile...

You can be assured I won't put it on the internet, because I don't know how and probably won't be trying to figure out how for a good long time. ;-)

(Anybody?)
How's about a bite of this shiny apple America!!

Wow, I so want that Serenity gag reel.
Hopefully Nathan will bring it to the BDFlanvention!
I hope so too, Jessica. If the Flanvention wants I can probably get them a copy, but I'm sure Nathan will bring one.
Thanks gossi! It's Mandy, though, not Jessica. I have tried to download from various sites and have been unsuccessful. Any thoughts?
Ooops, sorry Mandy! Don't believe it's online yet I'm afraid.
Ooops, too. I understood that it was but must have been mistaken! Sorry gossi and thanks again for your help.
It was an amazing event - but I would dearly love to see Jewel's music vid dedicated to Nathan, in retaliation to the Caleb finger flip. Now that was awesome (the expression on Sean Maher's face in that photo was priceless).
