I think he looks superb,the face is pretty much perfect!I really hope the end product looks like that, that paintjob is phenomenal! Just look at the detail on the head!!!

If Sideshow made Anyanka I hope they'd make her from "the Wish". She looks much better as a vengence demon in that episode than the makeup done in the later seasons (6 and 7).

I guess this will come out later next year, which is a very good thing for me at least, I need time!

Ah, that looks great! Ofcourse, the monsters and demons are always easier to sculpt. Or at least I have that impression, because they come out looking the part more often than the human figures.

So disappointed it wasn't Giles but I do think this is a great figure. All the Sideshow Buffy collectors really wanted a Giles figure and I think if we had gotten him and then had this figure announced we'd all be thrilled. It's just somewhat of a letdown because our hopes were so high for a Giles announcement.

I do think he's a great figure to pick because of his connections to both Anya and Willow and the fact that he was a recurring character. I can't wait to see the full figure and I'll definitely be getting him. Hope this means we get an Anyanka eventually too(and BD, definitely agree with you that it better be from "The Wish").

I also would love a Mayor figure too (and hope they do a new Faith to go along with him). I also want an Adam figure even though that particular season arc is low on everyone's favorite list, Adam still would make a great looking figure.

Frustrating/odd to get him before Giles and Cordelia. Though getting Der Kindestod at all, much less so early in the line, was more of a puzzler. D'Hoffryn looks cool.

I think the vengeance demon appearance in seasons six and seven was CGI. In season three it was definitely makeup, and looked very cool, whereas it was slightly less impressive after that. I think they used CGI to transition fom human face to the demon, but it didn't look quite as impressive.

Well it looks good. Looks like D'Hoffryn. Not sure I'll get it though. I might later on, if it gets cheaper on Ebay;-) Now what I would REALLY want from Sideshow is another Faith doll.

Except, you know, this time one that actually even vaguely RESEMBLES Eliza Dushku! Not Joyce's older sister or whoever the hell that was. To quote a review of the Sideshow Faith doll: " I suppose if you hold her just right, with the perfect phase of the moon shining on her face at a 17.5 degree angle, and you're stoned out of your mind, you can find Eliza in this head sculpt. But otherwise, you're just fooling yourself."

Can't put it better than that.

But then most Faith toys/sculptures/busts/etc. don't look like Eliza. I know SMG has a say in those things and sends them back if she's not happy with them. Now I'm sure that frustrates the artists, but at least it leads to good quality products that actually look like her. Either Eliza doesn't have that contractual 'say', or she needs to get stricter with those sculptors;-)

Depending on what D'Hoffryn comes with for an exclusive accessory will make the difference on whether I order it immediately from Sideshow or wait to get it from Ebay. Vamp Buffy came with a cool tombstone that I very much wanted and only came with the exclusive version.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. Not only with the 12 inch figures, but with the 6 inch figures as well. And that's an interesting request, Firefly Flanatic. Perhaps a trading room on flickr?

Hey, you're right! There's no Giles, is there? Of the 'core' people, we got Buffy, Willow (even though she kinda sucks), Xander, Angel, Spike...but no Giles? Tsk. There's just something wrong about that.

Btw Flanatic, I know you're pretty knowledgable on the Sideshow stuff, so do you know (just a stupid little detail I noticed)why the 'Vampire Buffy' has cloth pants on some pictures I see, and leather pants on others? At the Comicon display the pants were leather too, but on the official site it still only shows cloth. I wondered if it was an 'exclusive edition' difference but I couldn't see anything that said that. The cloth pants just seem a very baggy and oddly cut and makes her look weird. I just wonder which I'm gonna get if I were to order one.

She comes with the cloth pants. The prototype showed her with the pleather pants but both the exclusive and regular edition come with the same cloth pants. And yes, they are baggy but look like they could easily be taken in. I'm just too lazy to do it!! The tombstone is really nice, made of polystone so it feels like real stone, I felt it was worth the extra money.

Madhatter, I think a section on Flickr or on the Whedonesque.org for ebay sales of Buffy goods would be great. Even a section to discuss what everyones collecting too would be fun.

Sideshow is really aware of how much everyone wants a Giles so if they don't ever give us one they'd be passing up probably one of their top selling Buffy figures. So I'm betting they don't want to do that and that we'll see one soon. There's also rumors that the Buffyline is coming to an end and an Angel line may replace it so I'm wondering once that Giles announcement comes if it will come with him being the last figure of the line. Still thinking it will be Giles, Cordy and now Anya because we got D'Hoffryn.

The figure I'd want most from an Angel line is Illyria! And then gruffy looking Wesley!

An Angel line would be cool but it would still be sad to see the Buffy line end without a Giles or a good Faith or Willow one. Come one do a Season 5 willow. Exclusive edition with black magic eyes, hehe.

But yeah an Illyria would be very cool. The smaller versions seem to nicely resemble Amy. I do hope Sideshow manages to make Illyria's costume actually fit a little better than usual. And a Wesley would be good. Or a Lilah. Hmm....Lilah....
