(SPOILER) 'Big Damn Fan Commentary' for the River Tam sessions. The One True b!X ponies up a free mp3 download of his insightful "fan comentary" analysis of "Serenity''s viral marketing campaign, the "River Tam Sessions."

Fabbo, dense work as usual from B!X. ALSO: Mirror link of the mp3 commentary, just in case anyone needs it.

It looks like SpeakEasy.org has expired, so you can't actually download the MP3 of the commentary unfortunately.
That's weird, it works here. I'll check with Speakeasy and see what's up.
It works for me, too.
How strange. If I click download, it directs me to http://underconstruction.networksolutions.com/
It's temporary. They had an outage (which looks like it was domain-renewal related), and the domain is renewed, but it looks like the DNS has not finished re-propagating everywhere yet.

My apologies. I had no way of knowing my ISP had apparently let one of their domains briefly go down. Heh.

I just downloaded it, so something must be working :)

Good job on finally posting it :) Now everyone else has one less excuse not to record a commentary of their own... ;)
Hee, no problem. At least a porn site didn't register it. Not that it's ever happened to me, or anything.
Well, here's a mirror link of the mp3 commentary, just in case anyone needs it.

B!X, I'll take the link down when you're rock-solid. (Or, if I'm out of line mirroring, I'll take it down now.)

Great commentary, TOTB. Out of interest, does anybody have any software to make audio MP3 commentaries for Windows?
No problem with the mirror -- more important to make sure people can find the thing than that they use the main URL.

(I do need the originals to come back up everywhere, tho, because they are the links in the podcast-enabled RSS feed for the site, heh.)

SoundCapture by Magicsofts is a pretty rough and ready program, but it's pretty easy to use. I don't think the official site is updated any more, but stick the name in Google and you'll find it on any number of freeware archives.
Maybe I don't get it, but Sound Capture just records any input to mp3, right? I use GoldWave (which is nagware if you don't pay for it, but way fuller featured) and Sound Forge for stuff like that. If you're looking for something to mux (multiplex/combine) audio with existing video, doom9.net has many things to help with that :)
If you're looking for basic recording utilities, it's hard to go wrong with Audacity. Mutlitrack, multi platform, easy to use and it's free and open source.
Audacity is a pretty wicked app.

On the Mac side, remember that the current version of Quicktime (tho I assume only in the pro version) has an option to make an audio recording that's pretty straightforward.
Just FYI, the resolution to the speakeasy.org issue apparently is slowly making its way around the net, as the DNS re-propagates. Anyone who still can't get to the original mp3 link contained in the post over at the Commentaries site should be able to long before this time tomorrow.

Indeed. Rough and ready, like I said ;)
What language are you guys 'speaking'? (Just call me Queen of Melvinia.)
Can I get a few people to tell me what happens today if they try to go to

http://www.speakeasy.org/

?

I'm trying to find out if the above-discussed ISP issues are essentially resolved as of today, and people will actually be able to get to the mp3, including via the podcast-enabled RSS feed on the Commentaries site.

Thanks.
I get the speakeasy homepage. I can download the mp3 too.
