Reviews of Eliza Dushku's new play. "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" gets examined by the likes of the New York Sun, The New York Times and Variety. Was a good time had by all? Well not quite.

Eliza Dushku as Lucy...

Now that'll put an interesting mental spin on watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" this year, even as I imitate Xander doing the Snoopy Dance for my family.
I got as far as..."Snoopy was put to sleep" and lost all interest. Frankly, I simply don't see the point of taking the Peanuts gang and transforming them into the stereotypic neurotic teenage set. Isn't this the very thing "Buffy" effectively overcame?
I saw it a couple of days ago, and I thought it was very good indeed.

The only review there I read was the Variety one (the others need subscription, and I can't be bothered to dig out a Bugmenot right now), but I think that was over harsh in its criticisms, while seeming also to recognise many of the strengths.

The cast were all great, the direction was terrific, too, and I didn't find the material as weak as the Variety reviewer did. In fact, I would recommend this pretty highly.
