BTVSFigs take a look at the new Spike bust.
It's really more of a statue since it models him right to the waist, but never mind.

At least the facial sculpt is right as I know that they have a scan of him to work from.

I guess I don't see the point of doing something like this and not making it a full body. I mean, looks to me that lil' Spike got chopped!

Well I for one know the head is a worked over scan as all the six inch action figs were created from that. The paint job is rubbish, but underneath all that is a pretty good likeness.
I have to say though the stained glass effect window doesn't really work, and the colours are a little 'grating'.
I know these 'busts' seem odd, but people do collect them...including me it seems.

Now if they make ornaments out of these? I could see that working...

Ah but half a Spike is better then nothing love!
'I mean at this point why not just give Spike the rest of his legs and some feet and make him a small statue figurine instead of a bust?''
Beacuse it's costly to produce. That coat and the rest of him would have a lot of 'under cuts' in the mold. The way that sculpt is shaped and divided up in the manufacturing means the casting process is more simplified and so keeps the cost down.

I only mention this cause I looked at Quint's 2005 Holiday Shopping Guide over at AICN and there's some really good looking quality items there.

For all our love of it, it still isn't as well known as the Star Wars or Star Trek series.

I think a bust is called a bust because it features everything from the bustline up: chest, shoulders and head. Bust being an alternate term for breast.
My Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it thusly: a sculptured representation of the upper part of the human figure including the head and neck and usually part of the shoulders and breast.
I don't know what you you would call something from the waistline up, but there be another word for it. Perhaps we can invent one.

It annoys me, sometimes I think we as a fandom get short changed. Ah well. I'm sure the marketing and licensing people at 20th Century Fox know exactly what they're doing. Probably.
