Breaking the Story with Tim Minear...this time with video. An account of the Screenwriting Expo class along with bits of video.

"I like it... I don't love it."

I vow to use this phrase at work.

He has a new show in development with Fox that he can't talk about yet but it is a big, sprawling show and he is hoping to announce something soon.

I want to know more. That was a very good writeup btw.
The new show sounds interesting. Consider me intrigued (given Fox's past record let's hope he writes it so that everything's tied up by episode 13 ;). It's a good account but I wish you could get the Minear session on DVD (I wonder if part of the problem is requiring certification for the swearing ?).

(on that topic, did anyone else order the Whedon one and if so has it arrived ? I ordered mine on Dec 19th and it still hasn't come - I wouldn't mind but for $19 postage I was expecting 'Airmail' to involve a plane rather than, say, pigeon relay).
Speaking of which, anyone have the link to the Joss one?
Some of their site seems a bit broken (at least to Opera) but this should get you there.

ETA: Or it would've if I wasn't a non-HTMLly plonker ;) Hopefully fixed.

I also ordered the Whedon DVD, but nothing so far. I ordered it Dec. 16. My credit card statement showing the charge for it is due this Friday, but the DVD hasn't been shipped yet. According to my account the item is ready to ship, but there is no indication that it has been shipped or that it is on backorder. I emailed the Screenwriting Expo people and got a response saying the Whedon DVDs were shipping last Friday (Jan 6) and Monday (Jan 9). However, when I checked my account this morning, there is no change. Has anyone else encountered this?
My account still says 'Ready to Ship' tho' the charge went through on my card 3 weeks ago. Think i'll also email and see what the hold up is.
I like that Minear was all wistful about AtS and wishing it could be started up again. Me, too. Me, too.

A new big and sprawling show from Minear? More power to him! Fingers crossed that it gets picked up and not canceled shortly thereafter.....

As for the Whedon DVD (sorry for continuing with the OT), I haven't received mine, either. Nor has it shipped. But it was paid for weeks ago. Huh.
Same here, nothing has arrived yet.
My Whedon DVD hasn't arrived but I expected as much after not hearing until the weekend before the actual expo that I was going to have to pick my tickets up there. I'm going to email them tonight though - didn't realize how long it had been.
Yep, I emailed awhile ago and asked when it would ship and I was told last week. Could be they were overwhelmed by the demand.
Got an email response saying it shipped on Monday so, fingers crossed, it'll come this week.
Whilst I appreciate everyone's concern over the DVD (I've ordered it too), it's got a bit OT here so lets get back to the subject in hand namely Tim Minear and his inside look at how an episode is created.
*looks abashed*.
It is always interesting to read 2 different takes on the same workshop. I can see why an aspiring screenwriter would love this.
Not to ignore what you said, Simon... just wanted to post quickly that I received mine in the mail today, so take heart everyone, they're out there!
I hadn’t been around Whedonesque for about a week so I missed
that I had been linked to. I figured that folks around here would find
it of interest but the rules say I can’t link to myself
(excepting in comments such as this) so I had to wait around for
someone else to find me - hello Allyson.

Yeah Simon, I really wanted to know more about the new show as
well but that was Tim’s call. And thanks for the kudos on the writeup.

And Saje, as to the swearing, that wouldn’t hold it
up since Joss’ speech was every bit as uh... colourful as
Tim’s. If you missed it on my site, I did a writeup on Joss’ speech as well.

phlebotinin, I hope that if the Big Epic Series doesn’t get
picked up (and the futon critic still doesn't show anything
on their Fox Studios Devwatch), I hope
they hire Tim to do a Spike MOW... seein’ as how Joss
is too busy being a fancy shmancy film director these days.

Lioness, as an aspiring writer I hope that the writeup was of some help
for other aspiring writers. That is why I’m putting all that
stuff up on the site - and hopefully, when I am a big time showrunner,
I’ll still find time to yell at my assistants to go put some
more stuff up on it.

That's just the kind of guy I am.
