"11th Hour's" Alternate Serenity DVD Covers Available. For those of you less than pleased with the Serenity DVD artwork, there are now alternate versions available. Created by "11th Hour", she of guerilla posters and RPG Cover Art and Graphic Design fame.

These are high resolution print-quality covers folks. For those of you who "saw the llama" a special treat awaits

I woudn't be surpised if the llama delights JustNick, since he is the one that initated this llama-polooza...
I just have to say "Two toe pads up - Bovid and Ruminant" is hi-llarious, and "forget to chew your cud", I was cracking up there too. And I see the two L's on Universal's name and llamavision! There should be a notice"No llamas were hurt in the filming".

Wow. I totally missed someone of those wonderfull detaills.
And if my printer hadn't died on me, I would have one of these.
Now we just need a full sized Movie Poster with a Llama hidden somewhere.
Maybe the llama jumping up in the air in place of river, with some carrots and hay in his hands.

jam2, that's not bugging me. That's making me feel good :) My cover's almost finished. Just need to finalize some little details , add the rating to the back, etc.

I'm happy to see people keep posting their covers. There are about 3-4 that I can't choose between, so I won't. I plan to print them all out and rotate them. =)

I'm not sure if the birth of the llama is archived online or not... Basically, when the US DVD cover was, erm, let loose, somebody on the US forum observed there appears to be a llama in the Reaver crowd, near Zoe. That one post spawned the llama nation. Oh yes. You really can't stop.. Okay, I'll stop now. Clearly I haven't sex this month.

Zeitgeist - I may have misread what 11th wrote over on the OB, but I believe that this is the first time the high-resolution version has been available - for either (but llamas for sure). If not, apologies.

Llaughs are good for the soull!

As for the "wooly" thing. I went back and forth on it. The dictionary shows that both spellings are correct, though the double "l" is more common. So I thought it might be funny if a normally double l word was a single l in a field of double and quadruled ls.

It might be too obscure of a joke though... I dunno. Might change it, might not. I was starting to get punchy after a whille... heh...

As for me? It's all of those upturned eyeballs that kind of creeps me out.
I don't think it's bad, though.

AmazonGirl ~ If you notice, I didn't say he couldn't diss my work, just that it might have been preferrable to not do it on the very first post is all.

The upturned eyeballs are a way to connect the characters with the action above. It's a way to bring the composition together.

And, I'm not trying to be a professional graphic artist, I am a professional graphic artist.

Tough one to pull off, but well worth the effort, I feel. Llama and woolly/wooly are both funny words. As is schwarma (per Nicholas Brendon).

lyrabelacqua ~ Glad you are enjoying the artwork so much. That's why it was made!

There are many different styles of fan made alternate DVD covers, so there's something for everyone. It's cool to have a lot to choose from.

I made the cover out of love for Serenity, plus a bit of angst over the design over the official cover. But mainly done for love, for free, and it's a gift to any of the fans who want to use it.

Sorry about not noting earlier, but I would hope The Dark Shape didn't mean it as a diss, 11thHour. Perhaps could've been less abrupt/more thoughtfully stated... Anyway, I am using your cover, so thanks for giving me something that I'm not embarassed to show Serenity off in ('See, Vera', etc.). And, yes, SNT has one of the best usernames EVER.

That wasn't a personal insult, it's creative criticism. I think there's too much going on in the front cover image and it damages the look. I mean no disrespect, but as a graphic artist, you shouldn't be so opposed to criticism. It can only make your work better in the long run.

Feel free to criticize my cover at every turn.

(I do very much like you back cover design, however.)

zeitgeist ~ Glad to have provided a cover which you can feel good about when showing off Serenity. But is that the regular alt cover, or the infamous llamafied one? I hear tell that some folks prefer the critter one to the regular one... heh...

I probably also need to work on that "sometimes the best response is to say nothing" thing... but then my "Mal" voice gets the better of me. Kinda like having to start a fight in a bar on Unification Day, when it would have been smarter just to sit and have my drink.

It's okay. At least no one got punched in the face.
