Review of Michelle Trachtenberg's 'Mysterious Skin'. The movie itself gets a mostly positive review, but there's a bit of criticism for Michelle and her "wobbly accent."

I bought Mysterious Skin both for Michelle, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt who I loved in Third Rock from the Sun.

I agree that it was a remarkable film. Moving to the point of being devastating. Really hard for me to watch. By the end of it I was emotionally drained.

I had already seen Brokeback Mountain the day before and I had found BBM pretty depressing.

Mysterious Skin made BBM seem like a whimsical, lighthearted romp.

Both the male leads were excellent in very difficult roles, the boy who played the friend was great as well. It was a fairly small role for Michelle but I thought she did a great job and at no point did I notice a wobbly accent.

Very graphic, disturbing movie, but I think it was supposed to be. It succeeded.
I don't think her accent was wobbly, as much as it faded in and out sometimes. But it was very subtle in the first place, so it's not a huge deal. Indeed it was disturbing, but very well done as a whole.
Yep. I saw the film in the cinemas, and it was pretty good (if very depressing). I loved the soundtrack - the Cocteau Twins are fantastic. Michelle Trachtenberg was okay, but her role was so minor that I felt she didn't have much to portray.
