(SPOILER) This place can look up stuff! It's crazy! I totally know about John sweden from this website!

Seriously, what up? I'm pounding the keys (as opposed to staring at them, thank God) on my Amazon movie (which is totally my own idea and not somebody else's from a comic) called Wondrous Lady. Problem: third act. Solution: Cooking class! Yep, I've still got it.

Roll call:

Spike movie! Still trying.
Buffy comics! Wrote ish one, fun fun fun. Looking for a penciller.
Serenity comics: Brett and I have been very very busy and it's rude of you to bring it up. But it's gonna be tight!
Serenity sequel! My phone is silent and withdrawn.
Wondy Gal! It's all about momentum, baby. And cooking class.
Goners! Ready to polish after WW is complete. LOVED the speculation on the character Mia's name. Can't wait to hear what you all say about Violet. (Besides the fact that she is not in any way ultra.)
How I Met Your Mother! I'm truly addicted. "Don't be a hero, Sherbotsky!" Come ON, people!
Jack Green! He shot my two favorite movies last year. Crazy props!
Cheese! Why won't it stop flirting with me?

Okay, bastard people, I'm gone like a thing that's not so much here as elsewhere. Remember me.

-me.

Hooray for dodecahedrons!
If you've become addicted to Google like so many of us, Joss, I think you should give Uncyclopedia (http://www.uncyclopedia.org) a try. Crazy fun.

And, y'know, thanks for the updates! I've yet to even see How I Met Your Mother, but how about that Veronica Mars, huh? Will it ever stop getting better?
Hey Joss, always appreciate it when you drop us a line. I look forward to everything and anything you do in the future. (Here's hoping for a Serenity sequel! Serenifly is too pretty to die!)
What would we do without the Whedonesque tags feature? Thank you for keeping us posted! Totally digging How I met Your Mother, as well. "It's going to be legendary!"

Seriously, what up?

Still waiting patiently for Ripper!

In the meantime, getting my fix from Battlestar Galactica. If you haven't checked it out, I hope you'll grab the DVDs at some point. I understand you have a certain fondness for TV shows with pain...

Don't be tempted by the cheese. It's a seductive little wench, to be sure, but never smells as good in the morning.
How I Met Your Mother hasn't even started down here in Australia (as far as I know) but I look forward to catching it when it does.

Thanks for the update Joss, it's nice that you'll come online and give us the news directly... (as opposed to a certain band that announces a reunion and stays quiet for a year)
Joss! My own third act is currently causing me crazy stress and debilitating self doubt. Tell me this gets easier...my thesis is due two months from Valentine's Day.
Cooking glass you say? So that's where the invisible spork came from.
Cooking class can be very dangery.

Don't do it naked.
Violet? Well the first thing I think of is the daughter from The Incredibles. So she may not be ultra but she can be..yeah.

As for water sports. Google brings up questionable material there. Eyes burning.

I very much enjoyed last week's "..Mother" episode. Birthday suit up! And the laser tag battle! And the whole struggling to use the bathroom situation. But sadly still not appointment tv.
This is soooo cool! Thank you Joss for giving us an update! Quite nice of you to drop in! And please stop distracting him! Let him get to work! he must finish Wonder Woman than Goners than those comics.... and than Serenity Sequel(I know the phone is quiet... but it will ring.... well dont be suprised if its a long distance company asking if you want a switch!). And the cheese.... just leave it alone, and walk away.
Food is the solution to every problem. Keep on cookin'.

Sounds like your cheese is a tease. But own up, who really initited the flirtation?
Nice to know someone has discovered quality pleasure from using a search engine. But seriously, what about Google Maps? Part of the fun is looking up phrases like "Hotels near Albuquerque" Or "Pizza places in Mongolia" or "Tiananmen Square was really right over there? I thought the place where the guy got run over by that tank was a little bit east of...", but I digress. Anyway, I can't wait to see Wonder Woman flying in an invisible plane myself. Seeing princess Diana pilot that thing is totally going to put "Top Gun" to shame.

Alyson Hannigan + sitcom = crazy delicious.
Hail!

Sorry about your phone being all withdrawn though...
How could we ever forget you?
I am very excited about all the comics, upset that Universal hasn't green lit a 'Serenity' sequel, and very interested that 'Wonder Woman' will happen before 'Goners' after all.

Thank you for the updates!
Hi Joss! Glad to see you've been busy! Sad about the damn silent phone but happy to hear about the comics at least (a novel wouldn't be asking for too much would it, you know, you wrote a whole musical during your vacation so why not a 500 page little story about our favorite Captain?!!)

Thanks for popping in, it's always nice to hear from you.
yay! the other Green-involved movie was 40 year old virgin, which I already knew rocked, and now it has The Man's approval as well!

Besides all that, Project Runway rocks, I can't wait for WW (and am already mourning X3) and can I just share as well in the love of cheese? mmmm, I wish cheese would stalk me.
...very interested that 'Wonder Woman' will happen before 'Goners' after all..

My impression was that he meant the Goners script would get some polishing once he was finished with the WW one.
Google! Ha ha. Only Joss can break the rules around here. Thanks for the update, Mr. Joss. I can't wait to learn more about Goners or who you'll cast as WW. That's the question of the year. I'm waiting with bated breath.
And that folks, is why I love him. That Google link made me laugh out loud.
Joss! Turn to Desperate Housewives, Agent Dobson from Firefly is playing a gay guy.
Agent Dobson from Firefly is playing a gay guy.

Wait... Agent Dobson wasn't gay?
Joss, you bum!

I get Serenity on DVD, and there's a featurette on Jack Green and the Serenity photography that goes for two minutes!?! Two freaking minutes? What are you doing to me?
I be...speechless.

Dude, you're preaching to the choir about the cheese though. All those lusty looks, I want to throw myself in it and drown in a pool of dairy!

[ edited by escapist_dream on 2006-02-13 07:45 ]
Yay Joss!!! Yay for cheese!!!! Yay Google!!!
For some reason I take "water sports" straight to the dirty interpretation...

And bringing Steve Carrell into the Serenity-verse as some sort of plucky something or other? Insta-sequel. Plus there's that Jack Green tie!

Finally another missing segue, I'm still really curious about Goners despite not having a clue what it's about.
How awesome is that! Joss comes here in person to give us a real, live, no rumors update. KEWL!!! :-D

Wow, Mr. Whedon, you are a busy man! All the things you're working on *rock*! YOU *rock*!! Whoo! Oh, yeah, thanks for that looking things up link -- what will they think of next? ;-)
All right, so...the Spike movie must be about Spike's quest to unlock the mystery of dodecahedrons, the third act twist of Wonder Woman must involve a sublime combination of cooking class and water sports, How I Met Your Mother must center around the love of a good woman, and, as anyone knows, cheese and ferns go together like peas and carrots.
Love it. The CW (they REALLY picked that name??) had better give us some serious Spike-love.

I'm still not feeling it on How I Met... but I just discovered Corner Gas, a Canadian sitcom which has strangely drawn me in. It is gonna be a sitcom summer fer shur.

(Incidentally, did anyone else google John Sweden and see the ... er... song by the guy with that name. Um. I'm blushing).

*crosses fingers and toes that the penciller for new Buffy comics is good*

*and isn't Fernando Goni*
Re: Joss' reference to Jack Green above...

Just got the R4 Serenity release this weekend. Took a while to get to Colorado from Aus. Very cool extras including the "Green Clan" piece. However, my favorite part of the R4 disk set was the Q&A piece and Joss' answer about who he would take on a desert island:

Jane Austin
Caligula
Emma Thompson
Himself
George Bush

Bringing George along for food had me and Sandy rolling on the floor... The kids were wondering if we were okay...

Mods...if this is too close to politics, please forgive. It was just too funny not to post...
Joss, the solution is simple: start cloning yourself. Don't worry about how that worked out in that Michael Keaton movie. That was SO not based on real science! Actual clonage (Not to confuse with Maximum Clonage!!) will result in more work getting done in less time so saturate us greedy bastards.

(And maybe, like Anya, the missus might see some plus sides to it as well. Just saying...)
Mort,

I keep wondering what the CW thing is that everyone is talking about. Then I remember that I've only read about it 50 times. Eminently not-rememberable.

CW = Channel Whedon?

Now I'll remember :)
The first thing I thought when I came into this post was "How does Google relate to Whedon? Someone's gonna be in for a (virtual) spanking".

And then I saw the purple text, and I was like "Oh, ok. He can post whatever he wants to." :)

Now, I'm gonna be stuck the rest of the week wondering if Violet's really in the movie, or just a herring Herr Joss threw in.
*points* Ah, you. *pinches cheek*
(That's just the mood I'm in I suppose.)

If you decide to go in a different direction with Wonder Woman to where she's less of a wonder and more of a question-mark, give me a call. We'll chat about making her a slender, short, attractive Arab chick.

Hope all is well in the Jossphere, sir.
Omigosh, a Joss Post!

::squees like a little girl::

Spike movie! Still trying.

I'll bet you say that to all the girls.

Serenity sequel! My phone is silent and withdrawn.

...
... So very very Wrong.

Buffy comics! Wrote ish one, fun fun fun. Looking for a penciller.

Some say that Cassaday guy is kinda good...

Cheese! Why won't it stop flirting with me?

Avoid the cheese! She's a total whore.

"Don't be a hero, Sherbotsky!"

Seriously, one of the best scenes that show's had yet.
Keep up the good work mate.

You know we will support anything you decide to do! :)

Ah, Joss, as ever, gives us the good news. Lots of stuff going on. I'm still totally with the man on HIMYM. How can one not love that show? "Don't be a hero, Sherbotsky!", indeed!

The 40 year old virgin? Really? Wow. That didn't even make my 'have to see this' list. But who knows, maybe now I will. I'm easily impressioned.

Wonder Woman and Goners, still very high on my 'yep, I'm looking forward to those!' list. I still don't much care which gets here first (although Goners might be a bigger hit is Joss gets mainstream name recognition from WW). And Violet. Loving the name. Here's me sending mental waves to cast Summer as one of these characters. You know it makes sense.

Spike movie. Still waiting for it to happen along with everyone else, but with all the other fun stuff going on, I guess I'm still fine for now. And, Buffy and Serenity comics? I'm so there.

Serenity sequel = sadness. Ah well. Moving on.

Cheese. Wow, I hear you. Cheese is flirty evil and must be stopped.
I love a Joss update when I get up in the morning. Lovely stuff.
Oh no. No cooking class. That's SO formulaic. Recipe for unpleasantness. Cookie cutter plot device. And apparently just too temping to make lame jokes about it *cough*
Sorry, Joss, still not sold on Google! Gimme Yahoo anyday...

HIMYM? Still not appointment TV, not when there are better comedies like Arrested Development (*sob*) and Scrubs out there.

Spike movie, Buffy and Serenity comics - nice to see the 'verses still living in some form! Serenity sequel - aww shit. Give your phone a hug for me, I think it needs it.

Wondy Gal and Goners - yay! New Joss work coming soon!

Cheese is flirting with you?? Cheese, dammit, you bastard!!
However, my favorite part of the R4 disk set was the Q&A piece and Joss' answer about who he would take on a desert island:

Jane Austin
Caligula
Emma Thompson
Himself
George Bush

Ahhh my lil Emma asked Joss that! (I've kind of adopted her)

So Joss...no calls about a sequel, but what about this whole Firefly returning to TV that Kristin is speculating, huh? Serenity is kicking arse with DVD sales in Oz too.
The Q&A is a little cringe worthy, well, for me anyways! < insert embarrassed emoticon >
There is one simple way to stop the cheese which always works for me: Eat it!

As for the name violet; I think it is a shout-out to whedonesque where all the BDH's are shown with a purple color. Sure that color is not really violet, but Purple is not a real name.
Ahhh! Joss, do not pay heed to EdDantes' cloning advice? Did you not see frigging Primer?

Oh, wait, I forgot...no, no one did. *sadness*

Anyway...great to hear from you, Joss! Glad we finally get some news that can't be interpreted fifty different ways and ends up being total bull.

Can't wait for the comics!

Hope you resolve the third act issue with Wonder Woman...see, my script, it's the second act that's getting me. I kind of want to skip all of the character development and interaction and go straight for the battle-riffic climax. Damn integrity. :'(

A character named Violet...oh, I get it. Goners is the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, in which evil mutated blueberry Violet wreaks revenge upon Wonka and all those who wronged her...thus making them "goners."

Jeez, don't be so easy to figure out. :-P

By the by, Joss, I've been wondering...do you watch Lost at all?

And don't worry about lack of a Serenity sequel. I mean, they just canceled Arrested Development. Obviously, stuff that studios ignore is high-quality!

Even better?
Mother + cheese together. It's a win in every book.

Yay for all the love. <3
Joss, I'm glad you didn't mind the speculation about Mia's name. 'Cause, you know, I was having a thought (in fact, several) about that after publishing the Goners Movie website thing, and it was basically; 'Is Joss going to kill me for putting this online?'.

I'm still alive, folks!
Just wondering, is the phone plugged in?

Looking forward to new Buffy comics, and hoping one day a network says something more than "we'd love to do a Spike movie" something along the lines of "we're doing a Spike movie, and we're paying the guy ridiculous sums of money for it."
@Celebithil - "but Purple is not a real name." - says who??
*yawns sleepily, slumps past in slippers* Morning Joss *eyes pop, tea everywhere* Joss! Looking stuff up! Cheese! What a lovely Monday.
And hey, I'm in a problem solving mood - troubles with your Spike movie? Try a Faith movie!
, I'm glad you didn't mind the speculation about Mia's name. 'Cause, you know, I was having a thought (in fact, several) about that after publishing the Goners Movie website thing, and it was basically; 'Is Joss going to kill me for putting this online?'.

Considering that I have a limited life span, which I must use to do many things (such as breathing for example), I must have missed those speculations... what were they?
I read 'Amazon movie' and got confused. Why is Joss making a movie about a dot.com success story? Has he, like, totally sold out?

And then I woke up.
Considering that I have a limited life span, which I must use to do many things (such as breathing for example), I must have missed those speculations... what were they?

See this previous thread here on WHEDONesque.
The Whedonverse diaspora continues apace! All power to your various elbows.
I was irritated that I woke up after sleeping for only 2 hours.

But now I feel better.

Thanks for the updates Joss.

Le Comite, try only inhaling every other breath. I use this technbuylique and my prodsuyueuctivity has shot upppppp. Tho' the oxygen deprivatttioojjkjn can be a prouublemmmm.

Re: the Spike movie, an old teacher once said 'Do or do not. There is no try'. I think Joss just has to trust in himself and avoid anger because it leads to fear, which leads to ... wait a minute that's not right ...

Cheers for the update fella, made my Monday slightly less so.
Saje you so funny!
Ahhh! Joss, do not pay heed to EdDantes' cloning advice? Did you not see frigging Primer?

Oh, wait, I forgot...no, no one did. *sadness*

Except me. And the three people I went with. I still have very little idea what happened in it though, except that it definitely made me fear cloning!

But hey! Spike movie possibility! Hurrah! Joss posting! More hurrah!

Wow, Monday just got a whole lot shinier. Wonderful updates straight from the Boss.

Please don't give up on the Spike movie.

Sleezy continental cheese or homegrown plain?
Truly appreciate the update! Thanks Joss :)
Why am I so intrigued to take a cooking class now?
Ciao Joss!!!!!!! Here in Italy, Firefly is going to be on pay tv in the next few weeks, Serenity was in cinema just few weeks, found a comics it is difficoult.......Italy is not very good with you.....but the cooking is wonderful!!!!!!
Ahhh Littledreamer I'm sure he doesn't mind. Do ya Joss? Do ya...?
Violet is just a name for the color of Joss's name. That's my theory right now.

"How I Met Your Mother?" I've not been watching it. Working Monday nights can be annoying. Or profitable.

As for cooking classes - do they really exist?

Thanks for the update, and the link to that elusive Google, Joss.
Well I'm impressed. Not only did Joss remember his password, he's figured out how to link!!! Plus, an update. Talk about your triple whammy! (Mind you, I'm not one to talk. I've yet to link...) A good day all round.
Ah, so that's one of the things that will make a monday morning less painful, Joss postage. Good to know. Damn the silent phone, all else is of the good however.
I'll call his phone about Serenity if he wants!
Mia and Violet - Between Fiction and Reality:

Where does fiction start and reality end? How do we know that we're actually living and that it's not all just a dream? How can we be so sure about things like these?
How do you know when you've found you're mathing piece, your soulmate, the plug to your sinking boat?
You get the answer when your wish subsides to feel ...

Shadows of Mia.

littledreamer, I can't speak for Joss (hell, I can barely speak for myself), but I doubt you need to apologise. Plus, you were still restrained with the information you have.

Also, to have buzz for a movie before it's even entered production with a new world is crazy and unusual. Hey: it's gotta be a Joss Whedon project.

[ edited by gossi on 2006-02-13 14:53 ]
He got his password! He got his password! Google rocks! Keep trying on that Spike movie and we'll keep making noise on this end.
"Remember me"

I used google for this response :) :

O all you host of heaven! O earth! what else?
And shall I couple hell? O, fie! Hold, hold, my heart;
And you, my sinews, grow not instant old,
But bear me stiffly up. Remember thee!
Ay, thou poor ghost, while memory holds a seat
In this distracted globe. Remember thee!
Yea, from the table of my memory
I'll wipe away all trivial fond records,
All saws of books, all forms, all pressures past,
That youth and observation copied there;
And thy commandment all alone shall live
Within the book and volume of my brain,
Unmix'd with baser matter: yes, by heaven!
I want to touch Jack Green's brain.

His lighting makes me tingle.
Thanks for the updates, Joss. I also extend my phone-calling abilities to talk to you about the (inevitable) Serenity sequel. I have no power in Hollywood. Or Bollywood, for that matter. (ooooh, Serenity 2 as a Bollywood musical! No, just me? Okay.) But I'd love to talk to you about it!

And I like ferns. I just have to dig some out from the two freakin' feet of snow outside!
I'm still trying to work why linking to Google is a spoiler. I shall be pondering on this for the rest of the day *grins*.
I'm giving up cheese for Lent...pray for me!

(I do NOT wear the cheese!)
Well, Simon, the interweb is filled with spoilers, so Google is bound to link to some. It makes sense. Not in the regular way, but it does ;-).
Hey, a message from Joss, sun outside and my Serenity DVD playing. This is turning out to be a really nice day!!!
Almost makes me forget about that cleaning up I have to do...

Jack Green is indeed excellent! Although personally, lately I've been wishing I had Lisa Lassek's brain...
Simon my guess would be in this case cause you can look up all kinds of info with google, and not fear the government finding out what you are searching for unlike other search engines, it spoils you because you don't have to go hunting through musty old books like Giles did to look up information. But hey that's just my take on it.
I think Joss just figured out how to add a spoiler tag, so he did it whether it made sense or not.

Must go! Some chemical is eating away at my fingertip!
I think Joss just figured out how to add a spoiler tag, so he did it whether it made sense or not.

Oh, I'm sure that's the case. Doesn't mean we can't pretend there's hidden layers of meaning there :-p
I seriously need to hear more about Goners.

Also, can someone fly me out so I can audition? I'll clean your expensive Californian pools and cars. ^__^

I want to touch Jack Green's brain.

His lighting makes me tingle.

This post made me laugh.
Adding Spoiler tags, linking sites, remembering your password...Joss, I am truly impressed...what vitamins have you been taking? I must get me some of them bad boys!

And as previously stated...the cheese may be a whore but it's spelled C-O-M-P-A-N-I-O-N.

Thanks for the shiny post.

~Kessa
I wasn't all that into How I Met Your Mother, then I saw the wedding episode with Victoria the cake-maker and my sentimental little heart just fell for it. Haven't been able to catch an episode since then, tho. Totally unrelated, but Love Monkey is doing it for me too. ;)

Edit: And 5 minutes later I read that LM has been shelved. Sometimes I hate TV. Really wish I like proceedurals. . . and that I could spell, that just doesn't look right.

[ edited by Tycho on 2006-02-13 16:55 ]
Let's see. In no particular order...

1. Thanks for the update Joss. Great thing to wake up to on a Monday morning after spending yesterday shoveling snow and then nursing a sore back.

2. First words I associate with Violet = shrinking, shy. Would be an interesting choice for a Whedon hero...even if her name is really Mia. ;-)

3. Spike movie, keep on plugging Joss. We are right there with you, in a spread out all over the world kind of way.

4. I still think Serenity just needs time to percolate through various layers of audience types. We just need patience. Ommmmm

5. I had the same thought as Caroline about Amazon. Awake now.

6. I happened across HIMYM in the middle of an episode last week and it really did nothing much for me. I know I should make it a point to watch the whole episodes, but remembering to turn on the TV just for that at 8:30 when I should just keep it off so my son is not distracted from his homework, does not seem worth it.

7. This guy Jack Green seems like quite a guy. He has many admirable admirerers.

8. Tags = One more place to slip in a joke, see Joss profile for supporting examples of same.

9. Maybe cheese just knows a good thing when it sees it...
Dammit! Late into a Joss thread! That will teach me to have a non-online life!

Thanks for the update, Joss. Good to hear that everything is still on your list of things to do. Nice to see the Spike movie and Buffy comics at the top of the list too. Well, i'm Buffyverse biased and proud of it, okay? ;)

Seriously, i think we all accept that getting the Spike movie going isn't as straight forward as we would all like it to be but, just so you know, regardless of whether it happens or not we all appreciate you trying. Spike means a hell of a lot to many of us and i personally cannot wait to see him in a new adventure.

And Violet? Hmmmmm ...
Been watching "How I Met Your Mother" from ep #1, missed a couple in December, but I'm back. It's getting funnier, I think...
cooking class? With bronzer cookbooks? Hm maybe that´s where the turnip smell came from.
Violet just makes me think of a flower which is probably wrong.
We need that Spike movie !
Wasn't it actually Joe Sweden? Is John, Joe's brother? Are we supposed to care about him too? Ah, so many questions.
Wow. Wait, remembered password, added tags, spoiler, an actual link? Are we sure this is his Jossness? ;P Actually, I agree with the comment above - I want his vitamins.

I'll pile on with the HIMYM love. I've watched from the very first episode, even though I despise laugh-tracked half-hour sitcoms. But this one's got heart -- reminds me of Sports Night, which had a laugh track until Sorkin could convince them to drop it. Of course, shortly thereafter it was cancelled, so perhaps I shouldn't compare. Every episode of HIMYM makes me laugh out loud. It actually is one of the shows I most look forward to every week.
I don't believe I've mentioned lately how much I love this man. I Love This Man! Consider me Josstled.
Heh, skeezy. I'm going to have to start using the word "Josstled".
Thanks Joss for the Monday morning pick-me-up!

I totally understand the cheese thing...

My weekly MSN group that watches an episode together every Tuesday nite, typically chooses a good reason to drink. Every time we've watched Restless, whenever the "cheese guy" show's up we DRINK! (for those who don't enjoy their Joss drunk, I highly recommend it)

So I can only assume (best guess)Joss has had these nightmares about the Cheese Guy for real. You know the guy I'm talking about...its that crazy, out-of-place, Sherlock Holmes looking guy from Restless. He's all, "Here's some American Cheese Singles" and Joss is all, "Dude, I don't want your cheese..." and it pretty much goes like that all the time until he sees the cheese as actually flirting with him.

We need to get him some psychiatric help (or a wheel of cheddar)stat!
Alexreager: I have always held the theory that the Cheese Man was only a cat's paw and the cheese itself was the star of 'Restless'. In fact my theory is that Buffy IS the cheese, because we all know that the Cheese Stands Alone.
I saw this comment from Xanfan32 and I freaked

Thanks for the updates, Joss. I also extend my phone-calling abilities to talk to you about the (inevitable) Serenity sequel. I have no power in Hollywood. Or Bollywood, for that matter. (ooooh, Serenity 2 as a Bollywood musical! No, just me? Okay.) But I'd love to talk to you about it!

That would be awesome Serenity goes Bollywood! We should have Ashwaryia Rai as a long lost friend(companion) of Inara, Hrithrik Roshan as the hunky and deadly assassin sent by the gov't after Mal this time, and the "Big B" Amitabh Bachan, as the main villian, perhaps a minister from the Parliment? And then when a fight is about to occur, the guns are dropped and a big dance sequence occurs! With 20 beautiful ladies and 20 beautiful guys dancing in the background.
Joss has experience writing musicals, no reason the production can't be done in Bollywood, and the market is much bigger!! So many brown people around the world would watch it, in addition to the browncoats! (See its like destined to happen or something... kismet one might say...)

Nobody knows what I am talking about I take it... oy. *sigh*
What was Joss's purpose for posting this time? To promote the comics he's penning? To maintain interest in Wonder Woman and Goners (as if that will wane...)? To procrastinate because he's got third-act writer's block? To show us where Google is? (I did have to look up Jack Green, but did I want to?)

Sorry. Just gearing up to be in professor mode again after a wicked snowstorm....
Joss doesn't need a motive. He is a superior being.
*Bows*
We are not worthy, we are not worthy.
OK Joss, listen to me when I say,"Violet MUST have black hair." If she doesn't then it'll all be ruined!
kurya
I totally get it! Joss loves Jane Austen and I just saw "Bride and Prejudice" which was an absolute hoot.
My new Joss theory: Joss + cheese = Joss is Wallace.
But that's fine, 'cos I made another pair of Firefly converts last week with my spare set of DVDs. Yay me!
Simon -- what, you don't think it's a spoiler to hear that the Amazon movie will end in a cooking class showdown? With cheese?

Me, I'm not sure I even want to see it anymore ... *g*
As usual, I'm late to the party, but I almost fell over when I saw the spoiler tag and link to google. Joss never ceases to amuse me. He the man.
Honestly no better way to start a Monday off then some Joss in the morning. Hmmm.... Joss-y goodness. Thanks for all the updates and cooking class? Care to share some tips? You rock!
It's funny you should mention cheese. This weekend a friend was heating up some cheese (the kind you dip chips into) and upon removing it from the microwave he put his finger in the cheese, burned himself causing him to drop the bowl. When it hit the floor cheese and bits of bowl went everywhere which caused me to remark, "Holy hell it's like CSI: Wisconsin in here."
:D I loves me some Joss. I laughed at the spoiler tag linking to google, too. Actually, I saw the spoiler tag, saw that it was Joss who posted it, and went "??!!!" because we all know that he makes good roasted spoiler-spreader. Then I rolled my mouse over the link and saw that it was google. LOL.

Happy V-day, Joss. Many thanks for the updates. I will try to reign in my inner (and outer) fangirl. ;)

ok my mind went to a naughty place when I read that lol. I know I am a sicko.
What a way to start the day.. a post from Jah Sweden, my favorite Scandifarian.
Thanks for updating us :)
Yesterday I picked up the Serenity comic and DVD and thus must confess that Joss is a wealthy man purely because of my purchasing power. Don't spend it all in one shop, Mr Whedon! Unless it's, like, the Alyson Hannigan shop, in which case I say go for it.

And cheese. It's not just for Valentine's day (though, weirdly, it often seems like it).
Good day, good day indeed. First Serenity magically appears in my mailbox (6 days from Aussieland is pretty good I think) and then, after watching it all and rejoicing at all the wonders that it features (Joss commentary is the sweetest), I go online and find a status update from the man himself. Especially nice with a Goners update, it seems like the kid siblings project and I don't want it to become forgotten.
Joss, I'm worried about you. This John Sweden obsession of yours is starting to get a little out of hand...

And speaking of obsessions, Goners fascinates me although I know next to nothing about its particulars. With all the theories and speculation fueling discussion about it despite the lack of any actual visual references upon which to base them, it's almost got a conceptual art-vibe at this point (less all the boring art-criticism jargon). Mind you, I'm more of an ab-ex/fauvist/symbolist lover myself, so I can't wait for something more, um, concrete. I think.

From Mia to Violet, now that's intriguing. I loves me some spec'in! Violet is a beautiful, ambiguous (and my favorite) color. Tradition has it linked to both royalty and mourning. As the superheroine of the spectrum -- able to leap across the chasm from red to blue that bridges the unseen -- it's mystically associated with the third eye and an insight that goes beyond vision. Physiologically, it's also the highest frequency of visible light that most humans can see. Other things can see beyond violet, however, into the realm of the invisible. Will they be in Goners too? Hmmm.

Cheese! Why won't it stop flirting with me?

When you have the power to make things melt, flirtation is to be expected, don't you think? ;)
Yes! Joss post! And thank you Joss for the update! And I can see how cheese would find out attractive.:)
Hello Joss. That's what we do. Looking forward to your story. Please take care.
Gossi - you have to explain those LiveJournals to me! My brain is doing sommersaults trying to figure out if it's very early viral marketing or it's a very quick fanjob...
Hah! He had me at "Google". It's my homepage so when I clicked on Joss' link and went straight there at first I was confused, then hurt, then I laughed out loud and went to read it all over again. My classic reaction to Joss!
Poster Boy, Google's my homepage too. I had the same reaction, well... with slightly more confusion, just slightly :-)
Cheese........
It becomes you!
Joss? Can Jack Green be your DP on Wonder Woman too please?

I'm SO close to getting that feeling you get when you look at his lighting, you know...the fuzzy warm thingy stuff? I just need more of his work to look at!

I WILL be the Jack Green of the CG industry, oh yes.
*steeples hands in an evil way with an evil glare of utter evilness*
That cheese.... such a sleaze!
Thanks for the update Mr Whedon : )

What's google? And to think of it, who's this Joss thing? Sounds a little strange... ;)

later people.
First of all.... What a great post from Joss! Great way to pick up my Monday after a not-so-great start. And I'm all about that cheese flirtation.

Secondly... There was this interesting tidbit in Kristin's chat transcript from today. I don't want to give it its own thread because it's really not anything that new from what she's said before, and I agree with those who find her quite unreliable. If the mods think it deserves a post, go ahead and put it up. Otherwise, i thought this was as good a thread as any to put it in, since Joss himself talks about the quietness of his Serenity phone.
Here's what she says:
From junglejen9: Firefly. You gotta spill it if you have any additional info, please!
I've heard the CW is considering bringing it back as a series, miniseries or movie for next season. Hurrah! For you who missed my message board posting, on Tuesday, Nate Fillion, Summer Glau and Gina Torres were seen coming out of one of the exec buildings at Paramount, where they are putting together the new CW unit.
I've heard the CW is considering bringing it back as a series, miniseries or movie for next season.

Yeah, she heard it from her own rumor! I wish people would stop getting people's hopes up. I had people coming up to me in real life telling me that they heard that Firefly was getting picked up for a season 2 after the Ace Underhill fiasco. Enough already.
Cheese...
Also makes a fine jacket.
All I know is, little purple fonts make my heart leap like none other these days.

I totally get what you're talking about, kurya! And you know what? Producing the movie in Bollywood means profits profits profits (and sequels sequels sequels?) -- the most expensive Bollywood movie of all time, Devdas, cost (only?) US$15 million!
Heh, ferns. Joss posts always make me smile, even when I type. :) Whoa, see that? I couldn't help the emoticon.

Thanks for the update, I'm looking forward to all upcoming projects of yours. And it means I need to add more comic titles to my list, now. (Not that it's ever a bad thing.)

Nobody knows what I am talking about I take it... oy. *sigh*

Oh, I know exactly what you're on about, and I don't like it one bit! They're already re-making Fight Club, I don't think I can't handle anything more!
Wha? Huh? How can they already be re-making Fight Club? It isn't even old yet!!
Epona, "remaking" a movie in Bollywood usually means copying its plot and applying unique Bollywoodian conventions to it.
Fight Club - It's a different movie altogether. I know. I googled it.
Well they re-did the godfather... and it wasn't too bad.... but the music was horrible(over doing the suspense killing the anticiaption that kind of thing). And when I say having a sequel of Serenity I mean, Joss having control, directing, writing it, that sort of thing. If Serenity falls in the hands of the directors in Bollywood, I would make them fall on swords and then I would fall on a sword.
And....as mentioned earlier it is way cheaper to do this in Bollywood, and hey, it could be the same cast, same ship same director, except that the secondary characters and extras are all South Asian. And who says the story can't take place on planets where the South Asians are the predominant people. Its like a whole other planet to shoot it in India. Well for Westerners at least :P.
Aha! I finally get the Violet thing - thanks to a well-placed movie trailer on MTV. Certainly took me long enough.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Mmmm... cheese...
Always fun when we're dropped a word. As for the Serenity sequel, you just gotta keep your spirit up, remember Alan's red button ;)
uhh... obsessed what do you mean by get by the Violet thing, what is to get about the name Violet? What movie trailer were you referring to? Call me Mr. Clueless.
I can't agree with ya kurya - Shah Rukh is Mal all the way, with Saif Ali Khan as Wash, Preity Zinta as Kaylee, Kareena Kapoor as Inara, John Abraham as Jayne... can you imagine a bhangra "Hero of Canton". It is hysterical just thinking about the Hero of Canton done to the rhythm of Tumse Milke Dik Ka. Hilarious! Bollyjoss!
Woah woah woah, I thought the movie Asoka put to paid once and for all any rumours of screen chemistry between Shah Rukh and Kareena Kapoor -- though she admittedly has the glamour quotient for a Companion. And mayhap Amrita Rao is a better bet for Kaylee? Good calls on the male cast though (though it could be a toss-up between Abhishek Bachchan and Abraham for Jayne)!

However, the very depths of my being are repulsed at the idea of a Bollywoodian Serenity, so perish the thought!

OK, getting way off thread! Back to the joss-sticks!

Woah, girls and boys calm down now. I think the Western world isn't ready for the likes of Serenity - Indian Style! although I'm sure many of the original cast members would jump at the chance for a musical number and we know Jossy boy ain't no stranger to zany song and dance shows (Anyone remember OMWF?) However, Joss if you get desperate one day and you're looking for work (which i know will never happen - but anyway), then you can call on me to be the ever faithful Indian companion of Serenity. I'll do it for free, really. Call me. :p
Checklist:

"Spike movie! Still trying."
OZ movie that happens to have Spike in it somewhere.

"Buffy comics! Wrote ish one, fun fun fun. Looking for a penciller."
Who can afford comics nowadays at those prices? ...X-Men? What?

"Serenity comics: Brett and I have been very very busy and it's rude of you to bring it up. But it's gonna be tight!"
Etchings? Howzabout etchings?

"Serenity sequel! My phone is silent and withdrawn."
Y'know I been waiting for twenty years for that silent and withdrawn phone to ring, and I'd get that call that's gonna make me a star. I'm sure it's gonna happen any minute now.

"Wondy Gal! It's all about momentum, baby. And cooking class.
And being top heavy. Don't forget that.

"Goners! Ready to polish after WW is complete. LOVED the speculation on the character Mia's name. Can't wait to hear what you all say about Violet. (Besides the fact that she is not in any way ultra.)"
Huh? Howzabout more short subject films involving Summer Glau's feet?

How I Met Your Mother! I'm truly addicted. "Don't be a hero, Sherbotsky!" Come ON, people!
The deuce you say!

Jack Green! He shot my two favorite movies last year. Crazy props!
Yeah loved his beanstalk trilogy.

"Cheese! Why won't it stop flirting with me?"
Two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun.

(you do realize I still don't believe that's actually Joss. Just between you and me. *smirk*)
Let us once again look at Joss's tags. Someone must have again tipped him off about my theory regarding his pal and mine, Dr. Henry McCoy (aka the Beast). I believe that in the face of Beast's questioning of his humanity, what he really needs is "the love of a good woman" and that good woman is well, not Trish Tilby. Someone must be feeding Joss facts about me, either that or he is stalking me. Joss? Is that you hiding behind the curtains?
