Jeez, David pulled off lots of great comic moments in Angel. And the transitions to Angelus showed considerable chops, I thought. Don't know what this reviewer saw (or didn't) see in Angel the Series.

And just want to say thats the free weekly paper of my home-city Montreal! Yay!(actually for me its Dorval...not that anyone would know where that is....).

I think you're probably right. Slightly off-topic, but I've told my wife that Buffy could have gotten a better job than working at the Doublemeat Palace...even as a hostess at a restaurant would have been preferable...and that her taking that job was the most unrealistic part of the entire series...oh, and all the vampires and demons and Hellmouths and the rest of it all!

BTVS was first and foremost a show about the horrors of adolescence. Being a hostess in a restaurant isn't half as horrible as working in fast food. Fast food duty is a horrible north american right of passage (like dodgeball and jr. high) and possibly the most realistic horror BTVS ever explored. The only way it could have been more realistic is if Buffy's fast food tour took place in season two or three when she was still in high school. However... when I was working fast food, I remember some oddball college-aged (but not college-attending) individuals who were still working at the burger joint so Buffy being there at her age is not completely unrealistic.

Ah, never make an assumption like that among Whedonesquers. I spent a couple of days in the Montreal area about two years ago with some college friends, and we ate at Chow's. Not bad Chinese. I also remember Ristorante Portovino very well, though I don't think that's in Dorval. Superb Italian.

Kurya - of course, you do know that some of us know where Dorval is ;-)
BAFfler - Ristorante Portovino - was there last week... Montrealer's love their "bring your own wine" restaurants!!!

The thing is, unless people see it for themselves, if you attempt to describe the concept and how funny and great and interesting it is, unless the other person is a genre fan, they will just give you the blank stare. That is the curse of being a fan of genre shows. With the exception of Lost though, b/c of course common folk to like that show. Although obviously, the genre aspect of that show is not in your face, and it is a somewhat realistic setting...somewhat...

If you live in Canada, it premieres March 10 in major ciries and then goes into wider release March 24.
If you live in the US you'll have to wait for the DVD in May.
I saw it at the Toronto Film Festival last September and it's well worth catching.

I'm with CiV on Buffy's job, she wasn't exactly unskilled. I thought martial arts instructor was the most logical job for her. But then she wouldn't miserable, would she? And in S6 job one was make Buffy miserable.
