Gary Numan on Firefly: "It's brilliant". The legendary synth pop king reveals that Firefly is his favourite ever sci-fi series.

Oh who doesn't love "Are Friends Electric?" and "Cars"? New wave nostalgia ahoy!

Heh, excellent find.
Oh, is it embarrassing to note that I owned The Pleasure Principle when it first came out?
Not at all. I still have a collection of Gary Numan LPs. I love the song "I Die, You Die." Of course I don't have a record player anymore, but...

Those album covers. Anyone remember Warriors? That has to have been a parody of something.

Hehe, love the pic of Numan, Beck and the mighty Marilyn Manson. Haven't seen that before.
Why be embaressed to say you own "The Pleasure Principle"? "Cars" is an era-defining song!

"Cars" is on "The Pleasure Principle", right?
Oh, him. I was thinking Randy Newman at first... different composer, although one with a pretty obvious Joss tie in, however.
The only reason I know who Gary Numan is is due to Joseph Michael Linsner having done album cover and interior art for him (Linsner being the artist behind the Dawn comic book and much fantasy pin-up art).
I was a pretty die-hard "Numan-oid" in the 70's and 80's and it's great to see the resurgence in his popularity (when the Goth and Techno Kids caught on). Glad to see that he goes out of his way to work "Firefly" into the interview, and then in the same breath plugs "Serenity". Thanks Gary.
No reason to be embarrassed by liking GN -- his appreciation of Firefly and Serenity is a clear indicator of good taste that we're only reciprocating. ;)

"Down in the Park" was always my favorite GN song, after "Cars". I'm pretty sure a lot of us of a certain age have his album squirreled away somewhere, (along with a random skinny black leather tie, pair of slitted wraparound shades and studded bracelet or two). And I still have a turntable...
