When I was in college I was a DJ at my college's radio station where I played heavy metal. My name over the air was War Machine and I've been using it as my username online ever since.
The reason I chose it as my DJ name is slightly complicated. See there is this death metal band of questionable skill called Six Feet Under that was quite popular with the listeners. They had a song titled "War Machine" but that's not where I got my name. No no, I had wanted to use Ironman, but that would seem to obvious; not because it was an Ozzy song (because it was afterall) but because everyone knew who Tony Stark was. So what did I do? I went with Jim Rhodes, something so obscure only a geek of equal or higher calibur would recognize it. The fact that my listeners thought I was a bad-ass because of it was just a bonus.
