Avengers kicks off opening weekend in the U.S. with record Thursday. "The highly anticipated sequel came in with $27.6 million from evening shows which is significantly higher than the $18.7 million the first "Avengers" earned in 2012."

According to Deadline, "prognosticators are suggesting a wide range on the international opening, from a conservative $160M on the low end to $200M-plus at the higher end". Though the German box-office performance looks to be lower than expected due to the boycott by smaller cinemas.

Variety called the movie "a super-sized sequel with surprising amounts of soul". The Guardian loved it and said Joss' "script is a thing of wonder". The Telegraph says Age of Ultron is "a pop culture sugar-rush". ScreenCrush went with "it reclaims the comic book part of the phrase "comic-book movie"." (SPOILER) A couple of Irish reviews for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Entertainment.ie says the movie "is pacey at its running length, funny when it needs to be, scary when it can be and not ashamed of what it is - an all-out comic-book blockbuster". And the Irish Examiner has some reservations but calls it an "enjoyable superhero feature, another impressive feat from Marvel". Update The reviews have now been removed due to the embargo.

Avengers: Age of Ultron runtime and UK rating are revealed. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) lists the sequel as being 141m 6s long and gave it a 12A rating.
