A lot about me:
Born in Oklahoma, and aside from a two-year stint in Los Angeles (for grad school), I've lived here all my life, too. Depressing, isn't it? Also, I have the same birthday as Joss - which is funny to me, since I don't know too many who were born June 23rd.
Favorite Shows (Non-Jossverse): The Bob Newhart Show (the one where he's a psychiatrist married to Suzanne Pleshette), Guiding Light (from 1982-95 - I'm too young for anything before that, and everything after it just plain sux), Knots Landing, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Moonlighting, Mystery Science Theater 3000 (still miss that one something awful), The Rockford Files, St. Elsewhere (although, that ending...), and WKRP in Cincinnati. And that What's Happening!! two-parter with the Doobie Brothers wasn't too shabby, either. *
Favorite Movie: Ask me which movie I wish I had made, and I'd say Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). You can have your Bringing Up Babys, your Casablancas, your Sullivan's Travelses and Sunset Boulevards. Give me a movie that blends outlaws, action, and humor; and then sets the result to a mod Burt Bacharach score.
Other Favorite Movies: Bringing Up Baby (1938), Casablanca (1942), Sullivan's Travels (1941), and Sunset Boulevard (1950). Oh, quit bellyaching. You spotted this joke ten years ago. You had plenty of time to make a detour.
Favorite Book: The one I keep saying I'm going to write someday, but never do. Also in the running: The Maltese Falcon, by Dashiell Hammett; and any novel by Charles Dickens that doesn't have a lead character named "Martin" or "Chuzzlewit".
Favorite Albums (and if you ask me what an album is, so help me god...!): Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy and Tumbleweed Connection, by Elton John; Court and Spark, by Joni Mitchell; Late for the Sky, by Jackson Browne; Rumours, by Fleetwood Mac; Showbiz Kids: The Steely Dan Story, by (guess who) Steely Dan; The Very Best of Linda Ronstadt, by Linda Ronstadt; and Warren Zevon, by Warren Zevon. Not a Beatles album among the bunch, and you wanna know why? Because, as Public Enemy once warned us, "Don't believe the hype."
Favorite Quote from a High School "Summer Reading" Assignment: "Insist on yourself, never imitate" - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Another Favorite Quote: "Remember, always be yourself. Unless you suck" - Joss Whedon.
* Could live without the one where Rerun enters the disco contest, though. Ew.
